brad had a good game, too. 36/11/3
bibby was a terrible 4/20 fgm/a. only positive is his 11 assists.
peja finished with 19/7/2. 7 rebs?!!?

That is what post players like shareef are for but the problem is he kills the game flow when he is here and play better with out post players.KP said:50 to 32 in the paint. Brutal. Can you imagine if Iverson played like he normally does, or Brad wouldn't have gone unconscious? To be honest with you guys I've watched pretty much every Philidelphia game and Webber didn't even really play as well as he can. That sucked.
It was due yesterdaySacTownKid said:Coaching change may be needed to see that happen.

It would be really cool if we had a guy who could get some pts inside, and still step outside and hit the jumper, as well as facilitate the offense from the high post with his passing skills... maybe he could even grab 16 rebs now and then...DaMan said:That is what post players like shareef are for but the problem is he kills the game flow when he is here and play better with out post players.

He's not the greatest defensively, but his hands save him often, and his ability to make big plays at the end of games does translate to the defensive end. If you were paying any attention tonight it was easy to see that Webber (who is only average at best defensively) is hardly the biggest culprit for Phillys defensive woes. Brad had a field day with Hunter and Dalembert thru a lot of the game, but Webber was steady, cleaning the glass, denying KT the ball and carrying his team offensively along with AI2 as they weathered the storm. Then his teamates stepped it up and put the game out of reach. That is what 20 and 10 every single game on average will do for you... it's production you can always count on. Night in and night out, it will almost always be there. It is what we are missing ...consistancy and leadership, and it's easy to see Chris still has more of those 2 qualities than anyone currently on this Kings team.SacTownKid said:Can he reinforce the paint? Ha, you just can't see the obvious even as this team slides down into the lottery can you? At least I gotta salute you for sticking to your guns STK.SacTownKid said:Oh, wait a minute, you're talking about Chris Webber?! Well then....
A simple NO would have answered my question.![]()

I think you misunderstood my post then... Yes he would help us defensively (although not by much) with his rebounding and quick hands. We are slightly softer inside even when Reef is in there, and a worse rebounding team then when Webber and Brad were our front line. Add all the pluses offensively, scoring inside and out, elevated play/lack of fear in crunch time, and the abilty to make the whole roster better by drawing attention and finding your teamates for wide open looks and it's really a no-brainer.SacTownKid said:Simply made a statement that Chris Webber won't help us defensively, which is where we are having major problems.

love_them_kings said:we've always had problems defensively. Webb wouldn't make this a defensive team, but I don't think any player will do that with RA at the helm. However, with Webb and all he brought to this team we were a good team, maybe even an elite team. Now we are a mediocre team -- at best. Best of all, with Webb here we seemed to believe in ourselves, and now, well, we don't even seem to know who we are.
Chris Webb would not make this a championship team, but he could have saved us from some of the agony that this season has brought. Even the Kings announcers after the game said that with Webb on the team, we'd have more wins. And it's as simple as that.
playmaker0017 said:Wait - if I remember correctly - those old Kings teams used to be near the top of the league in holding down opponent FG%s.
They gave up a lot of points, because they shot quickly and were efficient offensively. But, it wasn't "BAD" defense in the past.
This team plays BAD defense.
Webber may or may not have had a huge effect on this team. It certainly isn't his skills that would have made a huge difference this year - so much as the comraderie that he had with the team. They KNEW Chris Webber and trusted him. That would be the biggest difference.
