Since we did this last year...what should be Francisco's nickname?

You do realize that most people who live in San Francisco despise the "Frisco" name, right? In fact, over the years there have been motions before the City Council to actually ban the use of the name "Frisco."

The much preferred nickname for San Francisco, at least in Northern California, has long been "The City."
As a former resident of San Francisco I was well aware of this fact, but as a former resident of Sacramento as well, I have heard "Fisco" used many many times, as in the phrase, "Let's go to Frisco this afternoon." Assuming that I was writing before many Sacramento residents, I went ahead and used it. Also, I am always amazed at the bitter criticism that is spewed on this board.

of course I have liked the short version... LASSIN

Cisco Kid, Cisco seems to fit for me.
The Latin Asassin is a name that Jerry Reynolds would say.. lol kinda like the Divenator(sp?)(Vlade)

I can see the commentators now..

Grant: Oh Boy! Lassin is Sassin right now in Arco Arena. ;)

Cisco is what he has been called since college, recently younger players in the Ville have been calling him "the truth". He was back home working out with the incoming freshman, they all really look up to him. BTW his dunk in the summer league was crazy!!

"Franny Fresh", are you kidding. What grown man would want to be nicknamed "Franny"? "Francia"? So is M.Bibby's nickname now "Mibby"?

Larry johnson was grandmomma. Why can't Francisco be Franny Fresh? Its easy to say and it is better than cisco, cuz thats just eww. And nobody calls mike M.Bibby, they just call him bibby cuz his last name is hella short.

I said "MIBBY", the same way you made the name "FRANCIA". Franny Fresh is laughable, sounds like Cisco will come out to play with a walker and calostomy bag in hand.

i really like that statement about being a role model to the new frosh. that brings up future dreams of a strong team leader that everybody would look up to. :D

i like cisco as well as long as i dont see any platinum hair or hear one second of the damn thong song (sisqo). somebody will bring it up at one point so i figure i might as well preempt any of that silliness.

however, i think everybody should feel free to use any wacky nickname u can think of privately. but for clarity i move that everybody on this page use cisco as his nickname.

There will always be a few people who don't want to go with the crowd. I think it's pretty clear, however, that the majority of us will be calling him Cisco. More importantly, however, is that we'll be calling him a Sacramento King.

Im changing my mind and Im appealing to the freedom of speech, so I´ll call him "Latin Frenzy" or simply "LaFrenz 2".

Bitter criticism? Not at all. I posted a factoid about San Franciscans who DO dislike the term "Frisco." That's all. I didn't criticize you. If you're a former resident of San Francisco, then you must be aware of how many of them dislike the "FRISCO" moniker.

I'm terribly sorry if I offended your sensibilities.

I hate san francisco (stupid diagonal roads!), so i won't call him frisco. But the thing that Cobb said about calling them watever you want is the best because i have heard cuttino called tons of names and Franny Fresh (francisco) will most likely get the same. However, i would love to call him "05-06 NBA Finals MVP" a whole lot more.:D

I believe what some people are trying to say is that he ALREADY has a nickname he and his fans are fond of. It's NOT the same as another NBA player, etc.

MVP? How about ROY?

;)
