My take on the Cuz vs AD debate?
Apples and oranges are both healthy and delicious.
Personally, living in the Pacific northwest, I'm more of an apple guy. Nothing like a nice juicy honeycrisp! But that doesn't stop me from pulling oranges off of trees when I visit my family in Cali!
It would have been grand if we won the Davis sweepstakes. The Cuz/AD argument wouldn't be about who's better, rather it would be about how many chippies should we expect to win with them as our bigs!
AD is absolutely the better big for today's style of NBA. But with the right roster, Boogie can lead us just as far by smashing fools.
Vlade sees that, and he's building a roster to that effect.
Cuz vs AD playoff battles will happen, and when they do I expect the narrative to change a bit. We all knows who puts up the bigger numbers in those match ups!

I don't see how it's a question of who's better in a dream team type roster. DMC demolishes guys 1v1, but when you're flanked by LBJ, Durant, Harden, Curry, et al, who can better defend the court (not a big center, but the COURT)? Who can get out and run? Who can clean up above the rim? Who can finish quickly without needing the ball? Who can switch better?
AD SHOULD be starting along the other stars. He's a much better fit. He affects the game more without the ball. He's a better role playing superstar.

I couldn't disagree more. As has been pointed out by others, Boogie mans the paint and takes more charges than anyone in the league. He can't be moved out of the paint and devours defensive rebounds - which helps your athletic stars get out and run. And anyone that believes that AD is a better passer than Cuz really doesn't know what their watching.
Those that would take AD can certainly have that opinion. But this matter of fact talk of AD clearly being better or a better fit is merely one's opinion - not fact. AD has done nothing to distinguish himself from Cuz except to have played with better talent around him.
