Should we start Spencer?

???????

While I'm not at all happy with our current 4 situation, the idea that we should immediately default and start Hawes is video game coaching.

Actually it's about him not getting too many minutes until he and the team are fully convinced his knee is okay. That's the most important thing - the future. Whether he starts the next few games or not is totally meaningless.

I like the idea of Brad, and Hawes out there at the same time, but Hawes still needs to 100% recover. Than we can talk about playing him at the 4 full time.

Personally I would rather have Hawes off the bench this year, and start JW at PF.

I'd like to see him get 30+ minutes a game. Doesn't matter whether he starts or not. Every minute he plays is one less minute than Thomas-SAR-Miki play (leaving out the J. Williams element), so it's a double win!

Play him, play him, play him. THE MORE THE BETTER.

To me starting Spencer and Brad in the front court is only a question of how soon Spencer's knee is 100%. He is still running funny on it (unless he just runs funny).

I would way rather see a healthy Spencer on the court than any other Kings big. Not even close.

Spencer Hawes shouldn't start right now; however, I wouldn't be too surprised if he is starting by the All Star Break, especially if the Kings are losing and Moore/KT/SAR, etc. still aren't adequate.

I'd start bumping up his minutes on a weekly basis. I'd like to see him get 15-20 minutes on a consistent basis right now. He can this team right now with his passing out of the low post from what I've seen. Every game is an education for him so the more teams and players he plays against the better.

So rather than worry about starting Artest, Theus was asked: Might he consider starting Hawes in an attempt to find some scoring down low?

"That's not out of the question, but Mikki's playing better," Theus said. "I wasn't sure that Spencer and (Kings center) Brad (Miller) would be able to play together, but I am now. It could be a dangerous thing."

The key, Theus said, is that his wing players continue to help with rebounding. Theus' dream outing was something close to Friday night, when wingmen Kevin Martin, Artest and John Salmons combined for 25 rebounds.

"If the wings rebound like that, it's not going to be an issue," Theus said. "(Hawes) moves enough that it wouldn't be a problem."
