Should the Pacers re-sign Peja

Should the Pacers pay Peja what the Hornets are

I would love to hear some Kings fans opinions. Of course this is a huge topic in Pacers land, and I'd say it is split 50/50 on whether Peja should be on the pacers team next season. Half the people want him back. Probably 10% want him to just walk away, another 40% want a sign and trade.

Of course it also depends on how much money he wants and for how long. We hear rumors of him wanting a 6 year $70 million dollar deal. No way would I do that unless it is a sign and trade. I really don't know what the Pacers should do. They need a shooter, no question, but Peja seems older than what his age is so I think 4 years is the max at about $8-$9 million per year. If he wants more per year or a longer term contract I hope the pacers do a S&T.

I'd be interested in your opinions

Depends on what you're looking for.

First, keep in mind that his agent is an egg-sucking dog. He's trying his best to put the $$$ first, last and only in Peja's mind.

I liked Peja. I didn't like the ways things ended up and I certainly think he listened to bad advice at times, but I did like him. What I didn't like was that he's not "hungry." NBA basketball isn't in his blood. To him, it's a job and not a calling.

As far as Peja being old goes, I think you're entirely right. He's been playing professionally for a very long time. The high point of his career was when he and Vlade led their national team to the world championship.

Peja is NOT tough. He has a low pain threshold and he doesn't play through injuries that most players seem to be able to ignore.

On the other hand, his three-point shot is still something I'll never forget. You've seen it for yourself; you know how it feels to watch him shoot daggers into the hearts of your opponents from way beyond the arc. Unfortunately, under pressure or in critical clutch situations, you can also see him bounce side jumpers off the backboard or chuck up an airball that nearly drives you insane.

If I was the one to decide, I would make a bona fide offer to him but I wouldn't break the bank. You have Granger coming up at the 3 and I think he's your future. I also think you did well enough in the draft to not really miss Peja if he did end up leaving.

Peja Stojakovic is one of those players who breaks your heart. He broke a lot of ours several times.

The Suns could go after Peja now that they lost Tim Thomas. If Peja asks for a contract that is too pricey and would overpay him, i would try to do a sign and trade. If he walks, then its because the Pacers didnt want to overpay him.

spot on critique. i think 3-4 years is fair value for him, but him/his agent will push for more.

i don't really believe in any of that "peja wants to remain a pacer" in the media. since he doesn't have the fire in his belly, he'll fit on any team, provided they don't completely suck...

Well it was more Bodiroga but everything else you said is spot on ;)

it depends on who their focus will be on offense.... who will they build around? is it oneal or peja? we saw how that worked out with peja and webber.... they should s&t peja to the hawks for harrington and a youngin....

Okay...

I'm guessing you don't follow the Pacers much, right?

I'm not too surprised at Peja not choosing to resign with the Pacers, he should get plenty of open looks with CP3 dishing and driving.

NOTE: I split out the article about Peja receiving a very generous offer from the Hornets so it wouldn't be overlooked and reposted multiple times.

that hit me the minute i posted it... i was like, "wait, why does that sound funny? harrington... pacers...."

the suns would be another choice... since tim thomas is now going to the clippers...

The Suns cant go after Radmanovic because he is as good as signed with the lakers so they are going to have to find someone, id be glad to let them have KT for someone good like Barbosa.

Wow, I posted this right before the new broke. I changed the title, so it doesn't seem silly.

No way would I pay Peja 12 million per year for 5 or 6 years

I'd say no... Indy would be overpaying either way... and they got some nice young wing players who can play now. Unless they go get a quality vet. wing.

A lot of Pacers fans really were turned off when Peja did not play in the playoffs because of a knee injury. If it weren't for that Pacers fans would think a lot differently

Doesn't look like Indy will resign him after all, his agent said he already agreed to the deal offered by the Hornets.
