Should the Monarchs pick up another player?

With Chameka Scott being waived a couple days ago, the Monarchs can probably fill another roster spot.

So, when I looked at the WNBA Transactions page, which is:
http://www.wnba.com/transactions/WNBA_2006.html

...I noticed that former Monarch Cisti Greenwalt is available again. Cisti was waived by the M's during the pre-season camp, but was later picked up by the Seattle Storm. But on June 29 (last Thursday), she was traded (along with a 2007 second-round draft pick) to the Chicago Sky in exchange for Ashley Robinson. The same day, the Sky waived Cisti.

Tamicha Jackson, Mandisa Stevenson, and Irina Osipova (a center) are also available.

Should the Monarchs make a move for any one of them, or hold off for now?

I would like to see the Monarchs pick up someone, even though they probably wouldn't get any playing time or even be on the active roster. Maybe bring back Anne O'Neil to play a Laurie Koehn of Wash. role of just coming in to shoot threes? Don't know much about Osipova, but maybe bring her in to see what she can do.

I wouldn't mind seeing another Skilled shooter...

I would love to see O'Neill back with the team.

I think we have enough post players now that DeMya is back on the active roster. If they were gonna get another post player, they might as well waive Brittany. And I love me some Brittany so I am not feeling that.

Having a Shooter like O'Neill could help the Defense prepare for Shooters Like Mabika, Lennox and the Like. Becky Hammon in coming up soon, so It could be an asset. No one on the waiver wire has really impressed me, and Cisti Greenwalt nah... no need to go back there again.

Then again we could alway bring back Giuliana and the Mendiola Clan.
Yeah... Yeah... I know too Slow. But I bet She would shoot the Ball.

I wanted Ambrosia Anderson. When Whiz took Smith out of that conference, he probably took the more polished of the two co-players of the year for their conference. But when I watched Anderson, I saw a Nicole Powellesque clone in the making. But shoot, also saw yesterday that NY picked her up.

Agree, we'd do better picking up an off or combo guard. We could check out Tamicha Jackson (I think she's still floating around), goodness knows she will shoot the ball...A LOT and she's got some quicks. I'm not sure how serious I am about that. But I'd like to fill that roster spot with somebody

Well, they clearly need to do something and shake up the roster. The game against Houston right now is just embarassing.

We need offense. The "defense wins championships" mantra doesn't mean you can win if you can't score. This team is awful on offense and is an embarassment from the FT line. Of course, the defense isn't up to last year's standard either. I know its haard to reapeat as champions, but this season has been miserable for the most part. I would not have thought the Monarchs could fall this far down. Its so painful to watch them. :( I keep hoping something will "click" and stay clicked.

We keep trying to find excuses for their slide...

We Miss Chelsea, we miss DeMya... We Sholanda seems to be asserting herself, and DeMya is back. So now what???

How about what I have been saying from the start. Someone from the wing needs to assert themselves and stop passing on shots. If watching the Houston game showed me anything it is Making shots matters.

The defense wasn't all that bad per se. They just simply shot with confidence. Besides the fact that we had absolutely no answer for Snow and her defense, we still forced the ball inside.

So should we pick up a player? Starting to think yes. Please... an aggresive shooter. It has been suggested that Nicole get a night off to reflect on things. Not sure if we are there yet. But if that is in the plan, This game against NY would be a great time. They have 3 days off and they aren't coming home. Maybe siting out against NY and coming back against Washington would do the trick.

I am not saying that Powell is the reason why we are struggling because we have more than a few issues. But We pay her to shoot and she won't. That hurts us period. We have to have a contribution from her.

We got 7 points between Nicole, Maiga and Kim.
7 points...
I think it's clear that if we pick up someone It needs to be a 3.

::sigh:: I have no idea... ::sigh:: I'll throw this game away because of the travel involved. But they need to figure something out...and take the remaining two on the roady.

Haven't unlocked the mystery of why our shooters are struggling and have thus far been unable to consistently show up in games. So I have no offers of an answer there and quite frankly am close to giving up trying. I thought they shot today, but just didn't have a lot of their shots fall. They outrebounded the Comets, had more possessions than the Comets. But for a while they shot under 30% from the floor. The FT thing, they got the same number of trips to the line - but shot 30% less than the Comets. They've simply gotta stop giving points back like that.

Their defense broke down and the offense stopped (bad combination) and there was nothing left to hold onto and keep the Comet onslaught from coming.

We'll see what happens Thursday.

Don't know why, but when I read this the first person I thought of was Adia Barnes. Not really an offensive threat, but thought it'd be cool to have her back in Sacramento.

I wouldn't mind her on the team, can get out of control sometimes, but DEFINITELY not afraid to shoot the ball. Consider her the anti-Ticha type of player
