Weren’t the bulls attaching there lottery pick from the past draft with Lavine and nobody budged but this fool trades Fox for him. Hold out for castle or go somewhere else smh

Uh, I don't recall that. The rumors I remember were they wanted draft assets back. Technically they did get it.

Around the draft they were trying to package there pick for Lavine and didn’t get a single team to entertain them. I remember DLo/KC saying maybe we should get in on it now since we’d get a lottery pick

nah. First off I don’t celebrate anyone losing their job, two Monte is a good talent evaluator and I would have preferred to see him stay in that role, three no reason to feel good until we see who gets hired and do they have a credible plan.

I currently think the odds are less than 50% that whoever takes over, is someone that you are more excited about than McNair

Unfortunately, the ONLY way we keep our pick now is to lose in the Play-in and then beat the astronomical odds and win the lottery and land in the top 4. The Kings have a 2.4% chance of lucking into a top 4 pick if they lose in the play-in.

If they would had Lin yesterday, they would have tied for #12-14 with a shot to keep their pick outright and an improve chance to jump into the top 4 at 4.8%. Plus, we still would of had home court for the play in game on Wednesday

I guess the Kings can make all this draft pick talk moot by just winning the next two play-in games and making the playoffs. :)

not true. If Dallas and Miami both win and we win the coin flip with Atlanta ironically enough we likely keep the pick.

I know we've got a somewhat active discussion in this thread, but it seems superfluous so let's wrap this up and try to move it to the McNair Gone thread...

Good night. Good work. Sleep well. I'll most likely close this thread in the morning.

People keep saying we need Dallas to win, but I thought we are officially the 10th seed after we lost tonight regardless of record.

Not at all.

We will be either the 12th, 13th, or 14th seed. Only one team - Memphis - can finish below us outright, assuming they lose to Dallas (Dallas would finish above us). In the East, Atlanta would tie us if they miss the playoffs, but Miami would finish above us if they miss.

There are four scenarios:

Memphis win, Atlanta win - Kings are 14th seed
Memphis win, Miami win - Kings are tied with Atlanta for 13th/14th seed and there is a tiebreaker coin toss
Dallas win, Atlanta win - Kings are 13th seed
Dallas win, Miami win - Kings are tied with Atlanta for 12th/13th seed, and there is a tiebreaker coin toss

That's where this all stands.

That was a late rumor, you're right, but I think that was debunked by the trade that was made. That might have been Monte trying to lower the value, who knows.

We're still going to owe Atlanta a pick next year if we don't give it this year. If we're make or break facing a likely full reset in the next 9-12 months may as well just forfeit that pick now because we know this team won't be tanking to start the season so the odds of giving up a better pick next year slightly increase.

Of course I'm still all in on a fluke lotto win the next two years straight the way DMC worked out. Lord knows we deserve the #1 pick more than anyone out there it's been 36 years?

At this point it's entirely down to Miami, Atlanta, Memphis, Dallas, a coin flip, and some lottery balls what happens with this year's pick anyway. There's no more "should we or shouldn't we" that involves any actual Kings decision-making.
