Should Kevin Martin start?

I think it's tough... It might be in the best interest of the Kings to move Bonzi because of his contract situation. But Bonzi has come to the Kings and has been a solid citizen and a good teamate. I find that it would be kind of unfair to reward his effort with a trade when he is/was injured...

Start Martin and trade Bonzi before the deadline. Chances are that Bonzi is gone after this season anyway so we might as well get something in return for him.

I can't imagine resigning him with Artest here and with Garcia and Martin starting to step up. I really don't think that it is a good fit to have Artest and Bonzi on court at the same time, but I'm very interested to see what that looks like when they are both healthy. I think there needs to be a better perimeter scorer/slasher on the court with Artest, in short I think that Bonzi and Artest don't compliment each other offensively. But you never know maybe they will, I hope that they do.

The Kings' youth is really showing signs of development and it seems obvious at this point that Garcia and Martin will both pan out. The Kings can't afford and don't need to resign Bonzi with Artest, Martin, and Garcia in place with such inexpensive salaries.

The Kings seem to be in dying need of a backup PG and a legit starting PF, they really might be able to get a nice PG in return for Bonzi.

Is Bonzi that bad that we must bench him. Considering how much worse we would have been without him during the season, you guys act like we need to ship him the next chance we get. Kevin has had some really good games lately. But Bonzi is the starter, no question. Plus we dont have the best bench in the league and if he can do this off the bench it would drastically improve that area of the team.

Once again if you ask vague questions you CREATE argument. Do you mean Start Keven over Bonzi? Trade Bonzi and start Kevin? Start Kevin untill Bonzi is 100%? These are all very, very different propositions.

Clarification: If people had gone to the SacBee poll, they would see the question was "Should Kevin Martin remain the Kings' starting guard when Bonzi Wells is healthy enough to return?"

Their choices for response were:

• Yes, the more Martin plays, the better he gets.
• No, Wells should not lose his starting spot to an injury.

I didn't copy their poll exactly for a couple of reasons.

First, the question was too long...

Second, I was being lazy...

Third, I do not like to qualify "yes" and "no" responses with modifiying phrases.

If Bonzi comes back healthy, then you have to start him. However, I am absolutely ready for a big trade, to include Bonzi if necessary, to get a big to clog the lane. Kevin is showing us that he is capable of being the starting 2 guard. That makes Bonzi expendable if he can be used as a key piece in a trade.

Ditto.

I would like to see Artest and Bonzi on the floor together. They really haven't had a chance. That is one intimadating SG, SF combo. Martin and Cisco definately deserve big minutes off the bench, but i'm not sure if there will be enough to go around. Tough call, but Bonzi should start imo.

I say no, and most likely he won't. Adelman as far as I know does not take his starter spots away because his backup does a good job while the person is injured. I agree with this sentiment.

I voted yes for the simple fact that he spreads the floor for Ron Artest and Shareef to be able to work down low. I know that is what Peja was supposed to do but, Peja had one problem he was never open and wasn't as fast as Kevin to get open. If Peja didn't have the shot he couldn't dribble to get a shot or drive to the basket. Basically Martin is everything we all hoped Peja was going to be. Sure he is going to make rookie mistakes but his rebounding, hustle, defense more than makes up for any rookie mistakes. Start Kevin Martin and trade KT and Bonzi for a PF over 6'9. with the rest of the 4 we got all we need is a presence at the 4 spot that can defend well and post up better than Reef. He don't have to be a dominating PF. Now can anybody think of the PF. untouchables are the ones we need. Bosh, Garnett, Duncan, Webber, Oakafor, and the dude for Orlando that i can't think of his name to save my life right now.

I thought it was a poorly written poll (the original Bee Poll) for a variety of reasons. It was vague, first off. Second off, the way they had the answers written was even worse. Kevin DOES need more time on the court, the more the better. Bonzi won't lose his starting spot if for no other reason than that's not the way Rick operates.
However, I thought it was interesting on a couple levels that have been discussed here.

Dwight Howard.

He's going to be Orlando's franchise player, and who they'll build around.

Rick told him to model his game after Rip Hamilton.

Wow, I can really see the comparison. I think that Kevin can be compared to Hamilton with more athletecism, and a better 3-point bomber.

Nope. Bonzi playing like he was is still a much better all-around player. Especially with that rebounding.

If Kevin continues to score and play efficiently, it'll be great to have him come off the bench.
Cant wait for that to happen...Kevin off our bench is going to be SOOO sweet! And hopefully Rick keeps SAR on the bench with him, along with Cisco and Skinner. Thats your 9 man rotation, folks. Hopefully Rick is having the same thoughts as me with this.:D

thanks i couldn't think of it for nothing. yes he is untouchable. I just wish there was one. Of course GM's are stupid. Raptors traded vince. Orlando traded Shaq and t-Mac. raptors also traded t-mac. maybe Bosh or Howard could be had if Geoff sweet talks them.
