Of course they are going to plan something fun while I´m out of the country! While it´s possible that I will be back by the 18th, I´m not sure, so I don´t think I´ll RSVP. I´m supposed to fly back on the 17th...but I might stay here longer. I´m glad I finally have access to a computer though, who knows when it will happen again. Might not be until I get back to the States.

Oh well, I´m sure someone will go and tell us all about it! Have fun for those of us who can´t attend!!

The Shoot Around sounds fun

I will have to miss it but is sounds like a hoot.

Ohh How the Afrolicious-less One misses Big Mama Bristow. What is My life without She Who Must be Obeyed.
Well at least she thinks so.

Can't wait for the Reports...;)

The Kings game is on Thurs. vs. the Lakers. Just the same it would be nice to have it scheduled on a week-end, so more fans can attend. Most of us work all day, during the week. I hope to make it.

Off the subject some...did anyone catch the LSU/UCONN game. A great game that uconn held on to win. Our own Kara Lawson was co commentating...she's the real deal. K-Law knows the game.

Darn! I missed that game and would like to have heard Kara's commentating.

I wondered where Kara was last night. Tank was doing House Party with Koz. Kara does a much better job, especially with her half-time and post-game analysis.

I couldn't help but laugh when I heard Kara doing the color on ESPN yesterday just because I know she is so warmly received in the state of CT ;) . I was kinda hoping she brought the championship basketball with her so she could reenact her scorer's table trot from game 4 in case her adoring fans in Hartford had forgotten what it looked like. ;)

Now if LSU could have found a way to pull that game out I would have been in heaven....

Also, a thought....I may get around to posting it elsewhere - but with a clash of the titans scheduled for ESPN next Monday, would anybody be interested in gathering somewhere to take that game in over dinner? It's Duke vs. Tennessee for undisputed claim to the #1 spot in the country. Should be fun. But it's an early West coast start time.

I might be able to make it. Where did you have in mind?
I would have liked to see LSU win as well....Augustas took a really tough fall away shot. Does she like to take it strong to the basket? I only caught the last part of the game. Mondays game should be a good one. Anyone going to Arco Wed.? If I get off work early, I plan to attend.

How early? I will try...depending on where and when.

It's a 4:30pm tip next Monday. I know there's NO way I can get away before 5pm and that might make it possible to make it somewhere downtown by halftime. Or we maybe could try to get together over the weekend for lunch and watch a replay of it - I dunno.

Actually, it was great! We had cookies and popcorn and bottled water, watched the final game again, heard updates on all the players, Coach T shared the coaching vision and how they set about making it come true - and plans for acquiring another big and guard that can both shoot. Ruthie Bolton was there, in Jessup uniform, and took questions from the audience on all kinds of things, including exercising to keep our bodies moving longer. The Hip Hop Crew was there in good form with their Moms smiling on the sideline. The customer service crew were all introduced, with their new vision for promoting renewals and announced that, I think, about 80% of STHs have already renewed. They didn't say how many new ones we have. And they plan more events like this, like the one coming on the first, the 101, so we will be able to tell what foul was called! We talked about the new rules and how they will affect the game, and the growth of the WNBA. Actually, I learned a lot and got my 'purple fix' at the same time!

wow... sounded great. but i thought it was a shootaround? u guys didnt get to shoot some hoops or anything?

It was a quasi-shoot around. They had a group contest that about 16 or so fans were picked to participate in and then everybody who wanted to had the chance to shoot free throws.

The one thing I learned last night that I thought was kinda bittersweet was that Shawn Allen might not be able to return as MC this upcoming season. He's been accepted into the Firefighter's academy and will be in his probationary period when the season starts. He said he's trying to work it out if he can. I went up and chatted with him after I shot my FT - he by far was my fav-o-rite MC of all time. It won't seem the same without him next season if he has to go off and be a fireman or something crazy like that ;)

I left that part out because I knew I couldn't hit that basket unless they put me up on their shoulders - aw come on - they did it for the little kids...

Awww, I'm going to miss Shawn!! I like him a lot, he's pretty much awesome. I hope he's able to do both somehow.

Good luck to Shawn and his new career. I doubt he will have much time to be a firefighter and being the MC of a Monarchs game simultaneously, espcially for day games. (And there's one 11:30 a.m. game on a Thursday: July 20th vs. N.Y. Liberty)

Perhaps this would be a good opportunity to bring Tina Machua (of UPN-31 KMAX) and DJ Sasha back to the Monarchs games! ;)
