I had a question about reefs contract, i know he was about to sign with new jersey but then failed some physicals, but did he sign with us for less money, in order to start winning. it seems like reefs worth itleast 10 million a season, i think hes only making between 5 and 7, did he take a paycut to play for us

Actually, he didn't fail anything. The Nets got scared and used "scar tissue" seen on his x-ray as an excuse not to sign him. By the time the Nets deal fell apart he did not have many options and the Kings swooped in.

Shareef was in almost the same position bonzi was in. Shareef was first offered a 64 million dollar contract by the bucks but turned it down to play for Nets for about 40 million. But when shareef failed the physical he was in a tuff situation, since it was so late in the offseason and most teams had spent their money on other big men the most any team could offer him was the mle. So sar looked for a team where he could start and contend and sac was that town. It was not because he wanted to take a pay cut, it was because he had to take a pay cut because no team that wanted him could offer him more then the mle.

Here is what I remember hearing through the papers.

Reef was offered 48 over 5 years from the Bucks from what I read.

And New Jersey still wanted to sign Reef after the whole debacle but they offered less guaranteed years for a little bit less money. He told them to screw off and came here without thinking twice. If all the years were guaranteed on the New Jersey deal I think he would have actually made more money if he took it. I also heard they were just trying to lowball him.

Sounds about right, but not sure about the last part.

i think the bucks were under the salary cap at the time hence the bigger offer.
