I applaud his determination and will. I think it's great he's out there trying to help the team. I appreciate his desire to play and do the best job possible.

I just have one question:

How can you get called for technicals when your jaw is wired shut and pretty much no one can understand a word you're saying?

body language and visable rage...pretty much.

He made a swinging arm jesture at the ref. I thought the same thing. Then Ostertag got 1 right after that so it evened out I guess. The guy is showing what he is made of, but I still wish we could have started Skinner at center and have SAR coming off the bench until he gets his legs under him again. He is looking very skinny. Didn't he lose like 15 lbs since his jaw was wired shut?

umm sometimes you get a technical even without saying a word....

just surprise me a bit to see this guy struggle on getting a rebound (i mean, even before his injury)...some say it's lack of effort, but I think he does giving out effort....so maybe it is due to not having enough missed shots coz of our superior D?

You know, it just takes a special player to get technicals with his jaw wired shut, and Shareef is that kind of guy. While I wish he wasn't so soft getting technicals and some might even call his technicals "pretty" or "hollow," I think it shows some serious heart that he can go above and beyond with a broken jaw. I applaud him. Just wait until he gets his jaw unwired and gets his weight back, then you're really going to see some technicals.

Although some question whether he can continue to get technicals with a winning team. I say he can.

This guy is a brave person. I love his courage to go out and play with a closed mouth. This guy is one of my favorite players on this team. GO SHAREEF!

That WAS a remarkable acheivement. I had been thinking it was too bad that he was losing weight because the jaw wired shut bit was really paying dividends by putting an end to all the complaining he was doing early season. I was actually thinking maybe we should wire up Brad while we were at it. :D But you can't keep a good man down as they say. ;)

Reef's in for one more bit of fun -- one of the most painful parts of the wired jaw bit actually comes immediately after you get the wres removed. Your jaw muscles have been locked into one place so long that when you get the wires off they are incredibly stiff/sore and make disturbing popping noises (quite distrubing given that the jaw was broken) whenever you try to move them. You're not even supposed to eat solid food for...forgot how many hours afterward. Obviously I ignored that one + was chowing down on some Chinese 30 minutes later, but it took most of the meal before the jaw loosened up and began to feel remotely normal.

Makes you wonder if wiring Brads jaws closed would not be a bad idea?;)

Remids me of when Sheed got called for a T during half time... that was prety special too!

I wonder how long it will take for Shareef to put the weight back on and more importantly, regain the strength that he lost.
