Seems a few people nationally seem to think we really screwed up the Draft/Trade

Well that Iverson stuff was jsut the tip of the iceberg and the core of the problem with Salmons. He refuses to, and it is pretty much consciously, play unless he gets to be the star and goto guy. If he does, he puts up numbers, if her doesn't, he goes into full on moping mood and his whole game jsut collapses. Happened in Philly, happened with us when we tried to bring him off the bench, happened in Chicago as Rose blew up. Don't even know what happened last year.

We not only do not need that out of a SF, ANY SF, we can't have it or it could sink us. That's the whole negative side of this deal. How to slap him awake and convince him to play the good soldier rather than the me-first malcontent.

True...but with the role we brought him here to fill this time, as the starting SF...I would THINK he'd be okay with...providing good defense, putting up 15 pts a game, etc...etc...etc. I guess we'll find out, but I still don't have a problem with this trade, knowing how he has been as a player, and the role he's being brought in here to fill.

My initial reaction to the trade was about the same as these sports writers'

...Willing to wait and see though. Petrie has actually been GMing pretty well for the past couple seasons, maybe it will work out.

Banking on Jimmer being better than (the underrated) Beno, as well as Salmons giving us good minutes at the 3 seems to be a bit of a gamble though.

Also, I actually LIKED Salmons when he was with us. I can only imagine how pissed I'd be about this trade if I was from the "Anti-Salmons" set.

I don't think anyone expects Jimmer to be better than Beno next season but we are banking that in the long term he proves to be a better fit. Beno's minutes already decreased by the end of the season so he was not going to get major minutes with us next year. Jimmer will get those minutes and hopefully he makes the most of it.

One this is hard to debate, Jimmer is a better long range shooter than Beno and thats one area we were in desperate need to address. One thing that will translate to the NBA is Jimmer's shot.

And Salmons improves us at a position where we needed desperate upgrade. There is potential for all sorts of things to go wrong here but he does have the skills that we need at SF and hopefully with time, he has matured a bit and is willing to be a team player.
