Sean May: Continued

To think that the Maloof's don't have any money in the bank borders on total ignorance.

I don't really think so. It's perfectly possible to have $1B in assets and be bankrupt, and Joe and Gavin don't have $1B anyway, they have a pretty small portion of that. That's undoubtedly why their mom & siblings are involved in decisions like which coach to hire.

Joe and Gavin have 53% of the Kings, they have the Monarchs and The Palms. It's doubtful, in this financial climate, whether ANY of those investments are making money. They may be getting pretty deep in debt, and just hoping that things turn around before it's too late.

Just because the whole family was worth $1B nine years ago, I don't think we can really conclude anything about whether Joe and Gavin are financially sound or not. They may well be doing the large-scale equivalent of using their credit cards to keep current on their credit card payments.

for the record the kings have added salary since the bibby trade... beno got a 5 yr deal, garcia was re-signed to a 5 yr deal and they traded for nocioni who had a longer deal than the player he was traded for, miller or salmons depending on how you look at it.
Actually Brad is set to make 12 mill this year, Salmons 5.5 mill. Bibby is getting about 6 mill (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4310653) or so. Beno is getting 6 mill, Garcia a little under 6 and Noc is getting 7.5. If you add them up for this next contract year the Kings are paying less with this makeup. The bad part is that Miller's contract comes off the books this year so it swings heavily in the other direction.

i know miller wasnt trade directly for nocioni... we got nocioni and gooden, drew was an expiring contract and was waived... but the fact still remains that we added salary in the long run because nocioni's contract is longer than both miller and salmons... beno didnt need to be signed to a 5 yr deal and garcia is garcia.... if we didnt have nocioni garcia's deal would be sweet but since we have nocioni garcia's contract is a bit overpriced for a back up....

bibby's contract is a new one that he signed with the hawks... so he doesnt even count. we couldve kept bibby for his last season and not signed beno, we wouldve won more than 17 games.... bad moves were made and we ended up with a bad team.... actually petrie made really abd moves and we were a really bad team last season....

When the team sucked as bad as it did last year they just did a big dump. They got the savings last year and this year.
