[News] Scott Perry is the new GM of Sacramento Kings

In a redraft you take Sengun but we don't have that luxury. A lot of busts between them. My issue is more about how he was managed once we made the pick - and we ultimately paid Toronto to take him and Sasha with 2nd round picks. But he winds up re-signing with Miami. Clearly we could have better managed and got return on that investment.

I worry about this now with a lot of our young guys - Carter, Keon, Nique - as we talk about signing a vet PG and also "how hard it is going to be to move" Monk, DDR, Zach etc. If we bring in a vet PG we have to get rid of Monk or those guys will never see the floor. And Deebo is also eating up space.

I just don't see the point of putting a bunch of stopgaps in between developing guys you draft. If you won't play your picks trade them. Not that I agree with that approach but what are we doing here?
Maybe. I think even with hindsight we take Jalen Johnson or Trey Murphy.

I thought that it was pretty obvious (since I quoted the tweet) that I was referring to GM Perry's tendency to tweet out treacly motivational quotes, which leads me to believe that he's really nothing more than a handshake and a smile. Maybe a handshake and a smile is the most important thing in the NBA, but that doesn't make me feel good about it.
Yeah seemed so out of character for you I thought I must be missing something.

I agree you.need a good analytics staff to go along with an ability to make deals.

I’m ok with Scott being a Schmoozer as long as he trusts and listens to his people (cap specialists, scouts, analytics)

Feels to me Monte could have easily made the picks Perry did and they'd have been criticized as "typical Monte moves" so I am guessing that we have most of the same people here still and they are being listened to.

Totally agree, and I liked the typical Monte moves in the draft haha. A few misses but generally he did well.

Not a bad thing if we have some holdovers in the scouting department or whatever.

That's the thing - I don't see a world where Monk, DDR and LaVine all come back. I think one or even two will be gone by the time we get to mid July of the off-season and things will begin to make more sense

So far, I am puzzled as to how all the moves since the draft make the Sacramento Kings better next year or even the year after? Schröder, Eubanks, Šarić, and a failure (thus far) to wrap up Keon Ellis for the future. About the only thing I am enthusiastic about is extending Isaac Jones. So far, Malik Monk is still a King, making more money than Schröder. But Jonas is gone.

Someone explain it to me, please. I am at a loss.

I am so confused. We have half younger players and half older vets. If we tank get more young guys. If we are all in get veteran pieces that fit. Pick a lane kings.

The tag is this is supposedly about "building culture". As long as the Kings keep the now abundance of youth they do have that's not a super confusing thing although yeah, it's somewhat a WTF scenario considering the route they've taken. Not sure about paying 45 million to a journeyman PG but 2 guaranteed years probably cost them. Monte would have signed him for 4 at a lesser amount and then the Kings would have been stuck for the long haul, lol.

So far, all I see is more older guys blocking our younger guys. As of right now, this looks like a 30-35 win team. As of right now, Doug Christie will absolutely screw over the young guys because he won’t play them and he will cater to the vets.

Hope other deals are going to happen because I haven’t had this bad a feeling for a long time

Here we go, forming an 11th PO seed team, picking up a pile from a yard sale, generously overpaying.

Imagine what's the logical thing to do and expect the Kings to do the opposite. Vivek is exceptional at picking out clowns for the Kings.

This guy has so far recreated the Jason Thompson, Carl Landry and Pat Patterson combo at the SG spot with Vazquez at the point team. Completely crazy moves so far, Dennis at 15mil for 3 seasons is silly no reason for it. I guess it's only right since the previous group blocked Keegan's development with the awful DDR fit they may as well block Devin Carter's as well.

Saric is a 3rd string PF in the Euroleague currently and Denver signing him instead of Gary Trent or anyone with an pulse along with the Holmes injury lost them the title. Injuries have made him less mobile, athletic than Jonas

This lines up with how I felt about the initial news Monk was going to Detroit. If we get back Kuminga, cool. If not, keep him and try to move Demar at the deadline. I think its clear Scott doesn't like any of those no D guards, and being undersized as a team.

Kuminga is only 6 months older than Maxime. He's younger than Carter and Nique. So much untapped potential. He's not the best shooter, but I think this means DeRozan is out the door (rozier?), which makes this even better.

Schroder - LaVine - Keegan - Kuminga - Sabonis
Keon - Nique - Jones - Maxime

Actually semi-excited to see this if it happens.

Would definitely need more shooting to help LaVine, Keegan and Keon. Hopefully Maxime's shot immediately translates as well
