If Jerry Buss’s weird nepo-baby daughter can actually field a competent team, it’s only fair that Vivek’s daughter can do the same with the Kings!
Is the team moving to Los Angeles

Domas straight out came out in the exit interview that we need a starting PG. Are you out on Domas?I am willing to roll with Malik as my starting lead guard. I might look to sign Chris Paul as an assistant coach of some sort to mentor him but I think Malik has the right instincts and mentality.
getting a good coach to coach up both Monk and Carter has to be the priority. People forget a Monk / Ellis backcourt was pretty good.
Zach needs to come off the bench is we can’t trade him.

This year, probably not. Chicago was able to escape the contract because Fox burned his trade value on purpose and SA didn't have salary filler and didn't want to give anything up for a player they were going to get sooner or later anyway. The Kings had a gun to their head and obviously Vivek prefers reloading to rebuilding - Zach was the available reloading option.
Find another team with a gun to their head, maybe you can offload the contract. But I assume he's here for at least one more year if not both on the deal. Can't imagine he opts out.
So he's ours, and he's actually a decent player, just overpaid, and we need to figure out how to build around him because you know that Vivek doesn't want to bottom out. That's the situation. I don't care if people like it or if they hate it or what, that's what it is.

San Antonio had cap space. We took LaVine because Vivek wanted him. I don’t disagree on the rest but Perry better figure out how to convince Vivek or he is going to just tarnish his career.
After listening to Sam Amick's reporting on the situation I have zero hope for this team going forward. The lowlights were:
Vivek was responsible for the DDR signing.
McNair "would have built the roster differently".
Ranadive is hoping to give Zach LaVine an extension.
DeRozan and Sabonis' agents want them out of Sacramento
I don't see ANY way that this team is ever successful with Vivek as the owner. You'd think after all this time he'd learn to stop meddling, but he just doesn't get it and never will.
I'll take a passing interest in what happens this summer, but barring some dramatic changes I'm likely tuned out for the duration of Vivek's ownership.
I’m 100% out on Domas.
San Antonio did not have the cap space to absorb Fox. The trade had to happen under salary-matching rules.
I guess we will find out as soon as this summer. If LaVine gets an extension we will have our answer. The roster construction was horrible but our draft picks such as Davion were a big part of the problem. Hard to fully buy the roster construction was all on Vivek.
Perry’s most important skill will be managing up. We shall see if he can do it.

Glad McNair no longer has to be his name on this dumpster fire. What a joke that we ALREADY hired a retread
They wanted to dump Vassell and Keldon Johnson I believe. Guys they signed to regrettable contract extensions.Okay not arguing with you on those kind of details. I would be surprised however if they had no space at all and the players they did send out I would have been happy to take here which would have been a lot less than LaVine.
in other words we took LaVine and his salary because we wanted to. Not because Fox made us do it.
If we trade Deebo for a PG or PF (or legitimate SF that pairs nicely with Domas and Keegan) of any quality level it would bring a ton of balance back to the roster.
But Domas and Zach have to learn to play together.
...and Monk probably has to come off the bench...
come on come clean. How are you related to McNair?
McNair deserves his fair share of credit for our success and his fair share of the blame. Or he deserves nothing at all.Do you still put this on McNair when its coming out it wasn’t him making the decisions?

Yes, and also, it's almost impossible to wheel and deal the way you really want to when the owner puts absurd limitations on what you can do.McNair deserves his fair share of credit for our success and his fair share of the blame. Or he deserves nothing at all.
I am choosing the former.
The question becomes when did Vivek start meddling and I would guess it was AFTER last season's failure. That's when the wheels were coming off of the Beam Team's success and I would imagine Monte/Wes/Brown were allowed to go into that season however they wanted and they botched it.Yes, and also, it's almost impossible to wheel and deal the way you really want to when the owner puts absurd limitations on what you can do.
That said, I will say at least Vivek is willing to spend. What he's willing to spend on is a whole different discussion.

If you could trade Demar for someone like PJ Washington, that would be terrific. I get that is a longshot, but if Demar and draft capital can get you someone like that, then you might have something. Imagine a more balanced roster. Even if you can't get PJ, get someone LIKE that for DDR.
Domas/JV
PJ/Lyles
Keegan/LaRavia
Lavine/Carter
Ellis/Monk
Davion was a bad pick. Haliburton was a great pick. Keegan was a very good pick. We'll see on Devin Carter.
It's a little disingenous to only bring up the misses as if all GMs don't eventually have them. As it stands I can't stomach to watch the video of PDA and Vivek in the war room for the 2014 draft. We all saw the results when Vivek was involved in draft selections. Hopefully Perry gets to do what he thinks is best and we avoid any more "STAUSKAS" moments.
I didn't liked McNair, but it's not like he didn't have faults. I didn't like his track record with 2nd round picks or how cavalier he was about trading them. He seemed to operate as if he were still in Houston where the strategy is to accumulate talent and trade for a star. That doesn't work in Sacramento. You have to win on the margins, and that means 2nd round picks, sneaky good signings, and great drafting.
But all that said, McNair was clearly the 2nd best Sacramento Kings GM after Petrie. That may be a low bar, but Vivek has already had two worse GMs in PDA and Vlade. No guarantee he doesn't do it again with Perry.
