Schedule Analysis

Looking more and more like 41 or 42 wins makes the playoffs in the West.

41 wins means winning as many road games as you lose at home. Right now we are sitting at 6 road wins and 11 home losses, so we are below .500 pace. The rest of the home schedule looks like this...

Atlanta, GS (2), Portland, Memphis, Dallas, Lakers, Seattle (2), Washington, Clippers, Houston, Phoenix, NOK

Honestly, not a lot to be too scared of at Arco- 7 home games against current playoff teams, but really only two elite teams come to Arco the rest of the year (Dallas and Phoenix). With the way we have been playing at home I think 12-2 is possible, but I will be conservative and say 10-4.

That means 15 home losses, so we would need 15 road wins to finish 41-41.

So far we are 6-17, meaning that we likely need to finish 9-9 on the road. The schedule...

Chicago, Memphis, LAL (2), Cleveland, Atlanta, Washington, New Jersey, Milwaukee (end of road trip), Indiana, Minnesota, Utah, Portland, GS, Dallas, SA, LAC, Denver

Tough to see nine wins (at least with our current level of road play). But, there are some winnable games there (Chicago, Atlanta, Utah, Portland, Lakers, GS, LAC jump off the page immediately), and the second half at Phoenix was encouraging.

Obviously, the road schedule is a lot more doable if we take care of business at home (we would need less road wins to get to .500). I think it can be done. Thoughts...

DOH ><... I'm going to copy paste...

18 of the Kings next 32 are on the road. With a back to back in Dallas and San Antonio, games at Memphis, New Jersey, and Cleveland. As well as 2 games in Los Angeles (Lakers),1 game against the Clippers and 1 in Milwaukee... The Kings would be lucky to go 4-5 in that stretch. Not to mention games at home against Phoenix, Dallas, and Houston at home. One huge stretch will be this upcoming 5 games road trip...

@Cleveland, @Atlanta, @Washington, (back to back)@New Jersey, @ Milwuakee... Then come home against Memphis, Dallas, and the Lakers... That 8 game stretch will be one of if not the most vital in the Kings season...

Sorry- not trying to steal your thunder- this can be closed if it is a duplicate. I was just trying to break down the whole schedule in terms of how many games we need to win on the road and home

O not at all... I love the breakdown... Basically goes into more detail than my post was...

Nice breakdown indeed, Rain man. Thanks for taking the time and effort. It gives me a bit of perspective for looking at the rest of the regular season.

Upcoming games

For the moment, the Kings has just moved up one spot in the conference standing.

The next five games are listed below.

02/14 @CHI 8:30pm
02/15 @MEM 8:00pm
02/21 GS 10:00pm
02/23 @LAL 10:30pm
02/27 POR 10:00pm

I think they are very winnable games. Thus, I would be disappointed if the Kings don't win at least four out five. The game that can very well decides the Kings' playoff possibility is 02/23 @LAL 10:30pm.

There is a thread labeled "Schedule Analysis" already up for this... But imo 4-5 is not likely. But that's just my estimation...

I don't have the habit of reading all the threads. Thus, I didn't even notice that there is already another thread on the same topic. Anyway, I just think they must win four now if they wanted to catch up to the Lakers. Plus, two of those five teams are battling the Kings for the 8th seed. So, beating them would be double pluses for the Kings.

The way the Kings have been playing- beating everyone that they should- Chicago and Portland are as near to locks as we can hope for. The Warriors shouldn't be too tough, as Davis is down. Memphis/LA will be test games, to see if we're really good enough to beat better teams and put together winning streaks against both bad and not as bad teams. Between those 2 I think we get one if not both (LA on national TV will be very tough). IF, big if, we win the games we should, 4-1 should be the expectation, 5-0 a possibility. Take these games individually, and we can take them all. Winning 5 in a row is where its tough. Right now is the playoffs for us, so winning out should be the goal.

I don't either, but here it is:

Kings do catch a break against Chicago. While we do have to travel out to Chicago for the game, it should be noted that the Bulls just finished up a 6 game road trip in LA about 30 minutes ago. So, both team played tonight in CA, and Tuesday in Chicago. First game back home after a long trip, with both teams facing the same travel schedule is about the best you can hope for in a road game.

Bulls may not have Duhon also, whos one of their sparks and keys, of course.

I think that's ultimately the game for the Kings to win, at Bulls. Grizzlies, while have cooled off a bunch, are still a good team.

Not to mention against a team that we just punished pretty badly a few days ago.

i definitely think the Kings can win these games. With the time running out this season is getting pretty exciting. GO KINGS!

triple team Kobe and collapse on the others as needed!!;)

I think maybe with Ron, we can stick with only a double team! But it's tough... Who do you want shooting the ball, a double teamed Kobe or a wide open Laker... Very tough...
