For those of us who don't live in Sacramento and/or can't get to the game.

*** FYI *** For some reason that I haven't really taken the time to investigate, the board has been acting hinky on me for a month now; timing out at the least opportune times, for several minutes at a time. As a result, I will not be regularly updating this thread, but I will be following the game in the chat room.

Go Monarchs!

:(

But what a fight they put up in the 2nd half. Ticha was a monster.....on her 34th birthday, no less.

Edit: Ticha Penicheiro: 19 pts, 7 asts, 3 stls

This Game Was Never in Doubt

In my mind, the score does not indicate how this game was played. It was never close. San Antonio shot 60 percent. 60 PERCENT!!! And if I am not mistaken, it was 66 percent at half time. You can not win giving up that kind of offensive production.

I thought the key to the game was the untimely turnovers and mistakes by Laura Harper. There was one point in the fouth where the Monarchs cut the lead to 11, and Frankin was pushing the ball up, penetrated dished a SENSATIONAL pass to Harper and she blew a gimme!!!! Right then I knew this game was over.

The other key stat, the Monarchs, the best three point shooting team in the league had ZERO THREES!!!! until two minutes left in the ball game. I will disect what this team needs next year later, but man, we let one get away tonight. San Antonio is a good (not great) team, but they can be beat.

and Kelly with a career high 19....hehehe
i loves me some crystal !!! ... i too, have taken quite the shine to this Monarch's rookie ...

what i appreciate about crystal's game, is that she plays it ... cuz it's fun for her, and because she sees how many ways it's playable ... offensive creativity does not come along every day, it's a rarer thing ... and crystal has it ...

For all of you in the chat room...You get one big Assit;)

That was freaking awesome! I was having a blast watching & listening to Koz & Krista...the NBA TV announcers were putting me to sleep.
Soon as I turned on the radio...the fun really began...:)

Way to Go MONARCHS...YOU WERE ON YOUR A GAME!

Wow....great job ladies! The SA announcers were spot on, the Monarchs want a gritty, "ugly" game and that's what we saw. That was Monarchs Basketball at it's best. Ticha has shown so much passion and emotion, she looks SOOOOOOO confident on offense, it's incredible. They showed in game one that they can hang with the Stars, and just showed they can beat the Stars. Let's go M's!

BTW, I <3 Crystal Kelly, career high in her second playoff game! Great game Crystal, great game everyone!

What an outstanding effort and unbelievable display of execution. Everything went right tonight. And the best part about this is The Monarchs have a little room for error for Game Three, because there was very little errors tonight and they basically won going away.

Key Stat of the Night: San Antonio - 4 of 16 from 3.

Didn't get online yesterday. That was an awesome game by our Monarchs! :D

They have to come even more prepared tomorrow, though, because I know SA will.

Dear Monarchs,

You have exceeded the expectations of many. You put the hurt on the best team in the league on their home court. Now, just put it all out there like you did for game 2.

GO MONARCHS!!

Keys to Game 3 Victory

1. I believe San Antonio will be keying on Kelly, Williams and the post players. Now it is time to give them a heavy dose of Powell, Lawson and Ticha from the outside. Shoot with reckless abandonment. Do not be shy in pulling the proverbial trigger.

2. Key on Hammon again. Limit her shots, and make others beat you.

3. Lastly, energy, fire, passion from the jump. Do not allow San Anonio to jump out to any lead. My suggestion is to get as much as you can from DeMya Walker. Limit Laura Harper's minutes. SHE MADE A TON OF ERRORS IN GAME 2!!!!

You can do it. You are playing with house money, you are there, you might as well go and win one more!!!!:D

PIVoTaL GaME 3 ...

this is gonna be a tough one ... the alternation favors SA ...

gm 1, SA good, M's bad ...
gm 2, SA bad, M's good ...
gm 3, SA good again, M's bad again ... ??? ... or, not ...

i would say FORGET everything about what has happened so far ... i think Jenny is good at that ... being in THIS moment, not the last ...

guard hammon 24/7 ...

the only thing that matters is the final score ... trailing the whole game, or leading, is immaterial, it's all about the end ... so don't let up, no matter what ... finally, play hard, and play rough too ... an ugly game favors the M's ... a pretty one, SA ...

do or die ... great, great season by the M's ...

I don't know about alternation if you break the game down by quarters. They kept hammering home (in complete bewilderment I'll add) that the last two quarters of game 1 and the four quarters of game two the Monarchs had outscored San Antonio 133-107. There seems to be a trend there. Whether it can be sustained I dunno. But there's a trend that belies the scoreboard nonetheless.

I've been looking at the postgame quotes from San Antonio from both games - especially the ones after game 2 and listening to the commentary Hughes and Boucek from practices yesterday that SA has on their website. I haven't figured out if the Ms made an adjustment at the half in game 1 that SA tried to make another adjustment for in game 2 that clearly didn't work. Are they going to have to make yet another adjustment tonight? He kept saying that the Ms beat them to their spots all night Saturday. There were things he was concerned about having broken down in the 2nd half of game 1.

This game should to me look like game 3 last year, with the exception that I don't know that the Monarchs will let themselves get down big like they did last year. Or it might look like the July game this year, when we again went in under(wo)manned as Lawson sat out with her shoulder dislocation and fought back, took a lead laaaaaaaaaaaaate into the game and gave it away. Sorta like game 3 last year. They're due to get it a close game with SA right this time.

Let's go ladies, 40 more minutes of relentlessness...we're not ready for the season to end either! Bring it back home!! Let's do this!

Go Monarchs

Go M's. My fantasy is coming true: M's place 4th in WC then meet SASS and (hopefully) beat them then meet LAS/SEA then beat them and meet some east coast team and win the 2008 WNBA championship. woohoo!

I like that fantasy. Hopefully, it will keep moving toward fulfillment.
