RT @NBAPR: The NBA salary cap for 2012-13 season set at $58.044 MILLION. The tax level for the 2012-13 season set at $70.307 million.

So it's the same as last year. So the min this year is $49.34 mil, up almost $3 mil.

When JT's deal becomes official we will know exactly where we are at.

With T-Rob Signing (around $2.9 million) and JT likely getting a couple of million more than last season, we would comfortably be over that minimum which means expect minimal changes going forward.

If the magoofs go into 12/13 at the minimum salary it will be the BOG calling the magoofs into the principal's office to sweep the revenue sharring from under them.

We can only hope! I still might be in denial here but I believe that Stern is working in the background to get these clowns kicked out of the NBA as soon as possible. Hopefully before the season ro by the end of it.

One can only hope!

Here's the whole NBA press release:

NEW YORK, July 10, 2012 – The National Basketball Association today announced that the Salary Cap for the 2012-13 season will be $58.044 million. The tax level for the 2012-13 season has been set at $70.307 million. Any team whose team salary exceeds that figure will pay a $1 tax for each $1 by which it exceeds $70.307 million. The Salary Cap and tax level, both of which are unchanged from 2011-12 amounts, go into effect at 12:01 a.m. ET on Wednesday, July 11, when the league’s “moratorium period” ends and teams can begin signing free agents and making trades. The minimum team salary, which is set at 85% of the Salary Cap, is $49.337 million for the 2012-13 season. The current Collective Bargaining Agreement provides for three different mid-level exceptions depending on a team’s salary level. The non-taxpayer mid-level for this season is $5.0 million, the taxpayer mid-level is $3.09 million and the mid-level for a team with room under the Salary Cap is $2.575 million.

It looks like the Kings will be about 4 m over the salary floor, which means the Kings should be looking for a partner to shed salary on.

I think you might be right. Stern alluded to that very thing when referring to the Maloofs. The revenue sharing isn't for pocketing and perhaps paying off other bills non related to basketball. Its a way for the bottom dwellers to improve their ability to compete with the more wealthy teams.
