I'm sure that STOP will want to take this to court.
I guess the question is: Can they afford to take it to court if the outcome will probably still go against them?
Will lawyers work pro-bono for a case that will certainly get news, but more than likely not be successful?

But this is a step in the right direction to be sure.
 
good to hear. STOP doesn't have much of a case in court, the arena plans are developing on schedule, and the kings themselves are very slowly moving in the right direction. things are looking up for kings fans...

Hopefully, all of the northern douche's money is spent and the faucet is turned off permanently.

They can take it to court but they don't have a leg to stand on. Election Code violations are cut and dried and they made several key ones. It won't get very far at all.
 
And now...the legal battle. I think it's pretty obvious how this one will go, it's just a question of how long it's tied up in court before getting shot down once and for all.
 
We all figured it was coming to this, but it is good to get confirmation. Sweet.

Legal battle may be coming (likely), but should be easy to slap down.

That was the other ace in the hole the arena supporters have had all along. It was hinted at previously but not really stressed. STOP did pretty much everything wrong and had Chris Hansen not stuck his grimy little fingers into the pie it would have been over a long time ago. There's no way this goes any further in a court of law.

Agreed. You can sue for almost anything, doesn't mean you will get very far though. ;)

I like how she just tossed them all, too. Not just some. Every. Last. One.

To quote from one of my favorite movies (playing the part of STOP here):

Great news in long, long battle to get new entertainment and sports arena for Sacramento.

In a way I hope this is lesson for city voters and especially Calif voters not to constantly fall prey to every no nothing paid idiot carrying clip board at some market trying to get signatures on petition for another state or local law. The process makes occasional sense but more often that not nowadays is abused by special interests, out of state money, corrupt backers, etc. Just yesterday I was at a supermarket and within two seconds of exiting the door some scraggly looking dude asked me if I'd sign with this, "Sir, are you registered voter?" "Well, none of your business I politely replied." No matter, he then launched into his reading from script sell on something or the other. I replied walking away, "you need to clean out and reform Calif legislature since it's their job to make state laws. How about new law that says for every one they pass five have to be rescinded!" He just shrugged his shoulders looking dazed that someone might actually go after his in your face hawking gig with a reality check.

OH HELL YAH! DO IT! Show these sig gatherers that they cannot just trick people into signing something.... Prosecute to the fullest extent of the law.

And thank GOD the arena will be built.

I presume they can back this up with facts. :rolleyes: I wonder how much of a bankroll they have to fight this battle? Absurd. Have at it STOP. See if Hansen will kick in for the legal battle. There is no law against being stupid but you DO have to live with the consequences of being stupid.

When you do something incorrectly and get called out on it, it's your fault. No one else's. Jeez.

@mrarmchair A judge would be very reluctant to reverse Sacramento clerk on ballot issues given wide discretion accorded to clerk under law.
