I remember when Peja said this. And then Bibby. Now it's Martin.
No offense to Martin, who is a great guy and who works harder than just about any NBA player, but he doesn't really strike me as someone who is going to be a vocal leader. Not his fault, doesn't make him less valuable, but I'm realy skeptical that he has it in him -- it just isn't his personality. He may lead by example, but I really struggle to see him in a leadership role in the locker room. All the more reason the Kings still need an alpha player when Artest goes.

I can see what you are saying but i dont think we can sit here and say we Truly know his personality just because we see him with those quiet interviews after games in the lockeroom. I mean lets at least see what he means, he might just be talking about behind the scenes vocal leadership.
It doesnt have to neccessarily be the KG or Kobe type where they basically curse their teamates out everytime they make a mistake.
He also didn't strike a lot of people as being any good. Or the type of player who would see regular playing time. Or a player who would become a starter, a scoring leader, etc.
Kevin has dealt with skepticism all through his NBA career. And time after time he's proven his skeptics wrong. I think he'll prove it again...
I'm sure gonna be rooting for him to succeed.

I think you may be in for a surprise. He's grown into his role as starter and he's accomplished just about every goal he's set for himself. It may not have been part of his personality when he first entered the league but I wouldn't count him out now...
You know the best part? We all get to sit back and watch and see.

Hey, hope so. This team has been in dire need of some positive leadership since Webber and Divac left. And yeah, it's not like I'm in the locker room, I just have a gut feeling about this one in terms of personality. But we can only hope that Kevin's incredible work ethic wears off on those around him.

Leaders don't say "I'm the leader". Leaders naturally rise and standout as a leader. Peopel gravitate to them for any number of reasons.
He said he's willing to do whatever it takes, that's good, at least he didn't come outrigth and make a proclomation that I AM THE LEADER. That's the quickest way to get people to not ever see you as the leader.

Remember this is Ailene Voisin... For all we know, she could have asked him a leading question such as, "Do you think you might possibly have what it takes to be a leader?" or even "If your team needs you, do you think you could step up into the role of leader?"
Looking at his words, I think he's showing confidence and a determination to do the very best job he can for the Kings.

Kev has the best shot too prove it with his work effort.. That is his strength and that is a trait of leadership..hopefully that'll rub off on all of our younglings.
