If you score only 8 points in the final quarter then you deserve to lose...that's what they get for playing the clock...you will lose more games than win playing this stupid method.

Um...was it just me or did anybody else figure that when they blew a timeout EARLY in the 4th, then proceeded to screw up and turn the ball over nearly immediately after coming out of the time out that that might come back and bite them in the butt? Not that having a timeout would have helped after the ridiculously and eerily similar way San Antonio won this game compared to the playoff game last year.

I did see some growth out of this team in the way they played as Shuman said for 38 minutes. But seriously....$%$!$*&^&!! which is ridiculously and eerily similar to the word I uttered when Koz said "....and she was fouled..."

Just curious how did we lose the game?? I was listening to the whole game up until the last 5 mins when we were up like 8 or 9 before we went to dinner.

I'll bite...these are a few things that come to mind after recovering somewhat from the shock of how this game slipped away.

  1. Two off defensive sequences with less than 10 seconds to go..
  2. Becky F. Hammon (like game 3)
  3. Sophia F. Young (and her #$%$# and 1)
  4. Preeeetty much no offense
  5. Ill-timed missed freethrows when they did make something happen offensively.
  6. I vaguely remember two back-to-back BAD offensive sequences late in that 4th quarter too
These are things I remember swearing about, there may be a more technical explanation for what happened, these are just things that made me say $%^% or %$#$ which may or may not relate to how this ended up a loss instead of what looked like a possible win with under 10 damn seconds left.

;)

Thanks for the recap! I think I am glad that I missed the final 5 mins, because my family would not have been happy having dinner with me being pissed off! It definitely was a low scoring game, either that was attributed to intense defense or poor offensive execution, I guess I don't know since I wasn't able to experience it first hand. Lets hope we can pick it up on Saturday against Houston!

Too bad for our MVP'S that witnessed it live:(
I was at the Rivercats game & they lost by 1 run...damn can a Sacramento team get a win? Sad more for our Monarch's, a game they ''should'' have won. Oh well it's on to Houston...come on Monarch's & Mvps...let get a damn win! On a night where LA lost again:cool: But the Comets & Lynx get important victories.

Let's put this loss out of sight & out of mind...cuz it sucks to lose.

I just got home from that game myself. It wasn't a good night for Sacramento teams! At least we got fireworks after the Cats lost.

We're fighting to stay out of the basement in the next game, hopefully we don't leave Houston in last place.

No joke, last place would not be pretty.
Too bad I didn't run into you, I got the news of the loss from MBF...We could have got mad together;)

For sure the fireworks was the highlight of the night...nice crowd & a beautiful evening.

The holes on this team are obvious (among those a reliable scorer and dependable back-up ball-handler), and it just so happens that Kara fills both roles for us this season to the best of her ability. Having said that, we didn't lose the game because she was out. I'd rather not see Kim and Aqua play more than three to five minutes a game, but it is what it is and they weren't the reason why we lost this game. We lost the game because we forgot how to play defense in the last minute of the game.

Hard to blame the coach when a veteran center surrenders an "and one" to the other team's star player. I expect a play like that from Laura Harper or Crystal Kelly. I expect Adrian Williams-Strong to know better.

Adrian was getting help all game, the M's were double teaming Sofia Young, according to some game quotes they had a mix-up & missed the assignment... So it's hard to put all the blame on her.
Defensive breakdowns & lack of scoring spells trouble for any team.

When the offensive player beats you or your teammate to the basket, you don't compound the mistake by fouling. You don't do this five seconds into the game, and you most certainly don't do this with five seconds left in the game. In this case, Williams-Strong can shoulder the bulk of the blame. It wasn't a strategy issue or a confusion in the scouting report. It was a fundamental issue gone wrong. A player learns not to give up more points than their lead in grade school.

Is Williams-Strong the sole player to blame for the loss? Hardly. She actually had a decent game. On the other hand, Nicole stunk. Ticha couldn't hit the broad side of the barn. The bench really didn't do much of anything.

This was a classic case of being at the wrong place at the wrong time. But she is a professional basketball player who gave up a game-winning three-point play. For that, she deserves any blame she receives.

Agree she deserves part of the blame. It's just at what point does a team break down mentally, what they had been doing well all game?
No doubt our big guns did not pick up the scoring, yet we still had a chance to win. Should have won.
Adrian is just slow, I wish she would have fouled before the shot, heck then they get 2 free throws & if they make them were still up 1.

Of couse no foul would have been better & more than 8 points in the 4th may have gave us the W!

Very good points. I just want to let it be known that I don't blame Adrian entirely for the loss. If I had to pick someone who is the the most at fault, it would be Nicole Powell.
