I believe most of this has been discussed in one way or another, if not in its entirety
. It is three seperate trades.
Trade one is between Chicago and Sacramento.
Sacramento outgoing:
SAR @ $5,400,000
Potapenko @ $3,674,500 (ending)
Sacramento incoming:
PJ Brown @ $8,560,000 (ending)
1st round pick
Chicago incoming/outgoing:
see above
Why Sac does it? The pick! It also gives an additional ~ 400K in wiggle room under the luxery tax this year. Next year it also lowers salary by ~ $5.8 million.
Why Chicago does it? They could use a low post scorer and SAR might be a plan B since Gasol doesn't look to be happening. Them having to give up the pick might make it too expensive for them
The second one is a slight variation on the Miami and Sacramento trade discussions.
Sacramento outgoing:
Bibby @ $12,500,000
Hart @ ~$1,870,000 (ending)
Cash considerations
Sacramento incoming:
Jason Williams @ $8,250,000
Posey @ $6,392,100 (ending)
1st round pick
Miami incoming/outgoing:
see above
Why Sacramento does it? The pick and it removes the uncertainty of Bibby and the observation that he may no longer fit. This also lowers salary next year by ~ $4.5 million. The additional salary this year would be offset by savings in the Chicago trade. The cash considerations are to pay for Miami to take Harts remaining salary, otherwise without Hart included it would push the Kings over the luxery tax which is appearantly a no-no.
Why does Miami do it? Bibby could be that spark they need and would probably be a good fit with true "bigs" covering behind. This also eliminates the possibility that Clevland could pick him up.
The last part is supposed to be dead even as a straight across deal. It involves The Clips and the Kings.
It is simply an exchange of Artest for Maggette and a pick. The Clippers have stated that that idea is dead but since then Artest has seemingly kept his head on straight despite less than stellar circumstances AND his shooting has come around with him playing more within the offense. Artest could possibly give them that little extra edge and that could be a reason the Kings wouldn't even consider it. The Clips have also seemed to have raised the asking price for Maggette and they may not be agreable to the pick and without it, why bother?
This leaves the Kings with Salary cap room going into the offseason and picks.
Sorry if this is all a rehash.
