Rudy Gay seems taller then what he is listed at. I went to the game and noticed he looks at least 6' 9" Anyone else notcie that?

I wouldn't say that Gay is appreciably taller than billed, but Howard is definitely shorter; he's normally billed at somewhere between 6'11" and 7'0", when he's probably closer to 6'10".

Rudy Gay is a gifted player. He plays under control and so far has not had a tendency to force shots or turn the ball over. He seems to be a willing passer. It is hard to find much fault with his game even when he takes a lot of shots. He is a really important type of player to have at crunch time.
I don't pay much attention to the specialized way people now look at the game. I like Brick's concept of the stretch 2, but Gay can also play "point-forward" and maybe some "speed 4."

Dwight Howard was drafted as a teenager and I remember it was reported that he grew an inch after he was drafted. Comparing him to Chris Bosh (6'-11.5"), Howard looks to be almost even or just a shade shorter, so I think he is probably a legit 6'-11" with shoes on.
Regarding Rudy Gay, he looks to be about even with Darrell Arthur (6'-8.75") (and taller than Zach Randolph!) in this photo:

But I can't find any official measurement for Zach. So it could be that Randolph is shorter than he is listed, or Gay is taller than listed, or a little bit of both. Knowing that ZBo is not undersized for a PF, if Gay can look him eye to eye then he probably can look a lot of PFs eye to eye. And since we King fans are not accustomed to having a SF that can look other SFs eye to eye, let alone a PF, I can see this may be a reason to get excited. Whether or not he should be a stretch 4 is different discussion but he certainly has enough height in certain matchups for it.

In a matter of couple weeks, we went from having a slightly built shooting guard playing the 3, to two new players in Williams and Gay, who both have great size for the position. The most dramatic change in that regard, in my memory anyways

Absolutely. we went from a team with too many guards and no SFs and made a height shift in having a lot of SFs and few guards. QUICKLY.
