Rondo's improved shot guarantees us making the playoffs?

In this post by Leo Beas (Cowbell Kingdom), the writer says Karl had this to say about Rondo:
"Head coach George Karl believes he can shoot 33-35 percent from beyond the arc and if that happens, the Kings will have no problem making the playoffs because this team will look to shoot many 3-pointers."

I'm quoting the writer; the writer didn't quote Karl. But, whatever, this is such a stupid thing to say - whoever may have said it.

Any chance that Leo Beas was the reporter who Rondo did the deadpan on? Maybe this is Karl's version of messing with the guy...

Personally, I'd like to hope our chances of making the playoffs don't hinge on Rondo's shooting.

If he can hit that mark, it certainly wouldn't hurt. But we can play the "ifs and certainlys" game all night... :p

I dont think Karl was joking lol, but I kinda agree. We need our pg to shoot threes or a simple zone will kill our starters.

Honestly the only time Ive ever liked the three point shot is when I was watching Bibby, Peja or Jackson shooting them..

Rondo will shoot 33% on 1 attempt per game. Just stop the nonesense we arnt GS or Houston.

Exactly. We should not mimic what those teams are doing because we do not have star guards like those two teams have. Our stars are a center and small forward. Plus, shooting the 3 ball 20 times a game isn't necessary.

Horrible writing. All Karl said was that he thinks Rondo is capable of shooting 33-35 percent from outside. The rest of that sentence is pure hogwash by Mr. Beas.

I'd like to know a little about Leo Beas and what qualified him to become a "writer" for Cowbell Kingdom.

#lostintranslationthemovie2 :D

Personally, I don't know what Karl expects from Rondo beyond setting up his teammates. However, I don't think he'll go into a rage if Rondo launches a three pointer on occasion. I wouldn't worry too much, because over the years Rondo has been pretty stingy with his own offense. He is the perfect example of the pass first PG. Ironically, my biggest knock on him has been his lack of an outside shot, and his pitiful display at the free throw line. I do however believe that you can't just throw the ball into Cuz over and over again and have a winning team. There has to be more balance in the offense, if not in results, then in the perception of what the results could be if you leave players unguarded.

The reason we brought in Belinelli was to improve our three point shooting. To think were not capable of shooting the three is to turn a blind eye toward Belinelli's past performances. Plus, lets not forget that Collison was one of the better three point shooters in the league last season shooting 37.3%. Gay, who only shot 35% for the year, shot 39.2% the last twenty games under Karl, and Casspi shot 40.2% for the year. So to think were incapable is ignoring the facts. One of our problems last season was that too many times we ignored the open man on the perimeter, or we had the wrong player taking the shot. If we want to spread the floor, and give Cuz outlets when doubled, then the three point shot is a necessary weapon. Lets just make sure the right people are taking that shot.
