Ron Artest

G-League
Ron Artest was benched because he asked for time off to recover from the tiresome promotion of his debut rap album, among other fatigues, which have piled on in the first week of the season. .

He said that, after it is released, he can get back to focusing on a championship.

I'm too baffled to come up with a joke.

Yeah the guy is really funny. I think he needs some serious mental treatment or maybe its a coverup for some internal problems or maybe he just wants out of Indiana.

& look now how his Pacers were destroyed by the Clippers by 34pts--102-68

if this thing about asking timeout from playing in the NBA coz of his rap album or whatever, i'm not so sure that i'd want him wearing a Kings uniform anytime soon or at all.

"They probably expected a little more; expected me to play every game. Everybody's different. It's early in the season, so I feel like I could take some time off early and be ready for the long stretch." ....

The 24-year-old is scheduled to release his debut rap album later this month and has been spending a lot of time making promotional appearances.

"I've been doing a little bit too much music, just needed the rest," Artest said. "I've still got my album coming out Nov. 23. After the album comes out I'm going to make sure all of my time is focused on winning a championship."

Uh... How about we not trade Peja for him, m'kay?

Nah, this is perfect, we wait till the deadline closes in, then we trade for him when he finally shows signs of acting like an adult!

Somehow I think you might have to wait until a little after the deadline for that to happen.

I might still trade Erik Daniels for him at this point.

During the Sportscenter interview he was asked to respond to Carlisle's quote about how he "undermined the integrity of the team" or something like that. Key word being "integrity".

Artest claimed he didn't know what that meant, and that he asked his family, and he didn't understand what the word "integrity" meant. Apparently, he really doesn't know anything about integrity, much less it's definition.

Sad what that says about St. John's admissions standards, where Artest was a mathematics major. He obviously wasn't an English major, where he not only never learned the definition of integrity, he also never learned basic spelling. His record label is called Tru Warier.

Remember the days when being ignorant wasn't cool?

To be honest, it's a really good way to promote the album :) It's definitely getting too much publicity considering it's a first time "artist" and the album hasn't even come out yet.

good pub? unless he's going to become the first athlete to have a successful music career, he's still going to lose money because of what this will do to his next contract.

That's actually an interesting point. But I don't really think the "I'm an athlete so now I'll pose as a rapper" craze has much to do with money. More with just being famous and being able to do whatever you want and trying to let impress your fans that you're more than just a baller by humiliating yourself in a tidal wave of verbal ineptitude.

He's under contract through 2007-'08 and has an option for '08-'09, so his next contract probably isn't of too much concern just yet.
