Hall of Famer
After a close loss to the Warriors Kings dropped to 5-10 for the season - 5-3 at home and 0-7 on the road making us being one of the 3 teams that haven't won on the road. The other two are Sonics and Knicks and it isn't really a company that one should aspire EVER. Kings are currently 1-1 on the 5 game home stand with Rockets, Jazz and Clippers coming up. Overall we are the 7th worst team record wise which means that we are moving in the right directions but is still isn't good enough for what we need.

Return of Rick Adelman is the theme of the night because the game really doesn't matter in such moments. The best coach in the franchise history will face the Kings for the first time at ARCO and the crowd will give him what he deserves. Sure people have split opinions when it comes to his achievements since he never went all the way but it was rarely his fault. At least he was close. How many coaches can say that ? As a Kings coach he won (if my math is correct) 405 regular season games and 32 playoff games in 7 and 2/3 seasons. Most of them were pretty wins. To put this into perspective - Muss would need a lifetime of Methuselah to get to those numbers. He made it work with very difficult personalities and was a players coach. It wasn't easy to get in his doghouse but once You were in it - it was permanently. I have yet to hear a legit basketball player say bad things about him or his work. He has made mistakes too but they are too irrelevant in this occasion to be mentioned. Just to illustrate how good this guy is - he managed to have one of the best defensive teams for years without coaching defense ever
. And don't forget that Kenny Thomas had a triple double while coached by Rick. A class act on and off the court. It will be hard for any Kings coach of the future to measure up with those standards.

2-23 quarter happens only to the best of the worst teams in the league which is a good sign right now. It is a little disturbing because even Knicks didn't do so bad in a single quarter last night while not trying at all. We tried hard. Still it wasn't as bad as it was about a year ago in Salt Lake City where we went 0-20 or something. Now that was impressive. How this can happen ? Easily. This game isn't just about talent. It also requires intelligence, determination, patience, good decision making, structure, etc... Difference between good teams and bad teams is the ability to get offensively what is needed - when is needed regardless of the opponent's defensive schemes. We are just not any good with any of that.

When Charles Barkley knows what is best for the Kings before our management - that is a terrifying sign.When one as a fan agrees with Barkley - it is generally a scary proposition because he bases his opinions, predictions, comments, on amount of glazed doughnuts that he had during commercial breaks. Actually, it is the other way around. He said last night what most of us has been saying since middle of the last season and some of people around here since the Webber trade. He didn't directly say how bad we are but he did say that our fans are great and if that is all one can say about a franchise - it is a problem. Plus - the guy kissed donkey's butt for Christ sake.

We play a very ugly brand of basketball. 10 assists on 19 turnovers is beyond pathetic. Actually, mathematically it shouldn't even be possible but that is why we are here. On the same night - there were 5 players on other teams that individually had equal amount of assists or more than our team managed in the whole game.
Other thing that aggravates me is the fact that we are shortening rotations. We played with 7 players that night and that is inexcusable in our situation. And we lost the game anyways as we will do many more times in years to come if this trend continues. We are wasting valuable time here.

Losing to the Warriors isn't a big of a deal these days. They have a better team especially when You play their style which we did. I felt like watching Dumb and Dumber during the game and we ended being Dumber that night in a truly pathetic 4 quarter where we did everything wrong and then some. It didn't even help that we had 10 more rebounds and 10 more free throws.

AWARD TIME
Biedrins get the TDM award which he earned in a impressive fashion. We deserve lots of credit for tht one because we were to proud to put a horrible FT shooter on the line so we made him make dunks and layups all night long.
LW-VC goes to Azubuike who was our best player for good stretches of the game.
RA&1 award went to John Salmons for wasting 25+ minutes of playing time
WTF moment of the game - Mikki's 19 foot jumper in the last minute when we were down by 2 pts
Coach Theus - DNC-CD in the 4th quarter

Rockets are next and they are way better than their record is indicating. Their main problem other than being new to the system - is lack of point guard because they don't have any. For us to win this - it will take great rebounding effort, team play on offense and our strategy should be - make Alston beat us because he can't.. We won't be able to guard Yao but we might get him in foul trouble. Their bench will create us matchup problems too. If Ron doesn't plat TMac will kill us.

Rockets are 5-5 on the road but their schedule has been brutal. They are still getting used to the new system and that will take a while. 2 headed monster will be hard to contain. Depressively enough at some point we will see Mutombo dominate the paint. TDM will be a tough pick because there are so many options. I will go with Scola just because we never faed him before. I expect Alston to defend his award LW-VC will go to Bonzi. Rockets win this one
