Rick Adelman on Lakers' Radar?

I think they like Rick Adelman for several reasons. Veteran coach who has the solid NBA track record. Runs an offense very similar to the triangle. Has coached Ron-Ron twice and had success dealing with him. Finally, if he gets the job, it may be final swan song for both Adelman and Kobe - a make or break last run of a year or two for the title.

Grant is of the opinion that Adelman wouldn't be able to handle or want the harsh and intense lights of the LA media pressure-cooker.
I'll presume he knows the man more than we do, even though I don;t think Grant is a perfect psychic - I think his opinion should hold court until anything more is said by Adelman.

on the other hand, a job's a job, the money's the money, and it would be his best chance to get the ring he deserves...
not that I support him going there or want him to go there, I just understand why he might.
That's why I wouldn't be able to handle it. I'd have to be happy for Rick if he got a ring, even if he got it with the evil empire. That kind of internal conflict could potentially disrupt the space-time continuum.

Look at it this way; if he won with Kobe one year the worse, he'd have one-up'd Phil Jackson.

It's not a surprise that they are interested in him. He also has always wanted to stay in the Western Conference and I don't believe there will be any other jobs available in the Western Conference. Rick can care less about any past rivalries with the Lakers. It's a business for him.

I dont completely hate the lakers like a lot of people around this area and revel in watching them get blown out like that. He isn't our coach. I really like Adelman and wish the Maloofs had kept him, but Adelman has had a long career with stints at various teams. He coached the Blazers to two finals before he came to Sacramento.
I just would be a little suprised. Anything short of a championship is considered failure by Lakers fans. It would be a lot of pressure. Of course, it would also be a lot of money. Would help the retirement nest egg.

On the downside... The Lakers with Rick would have an amazing offense. Could definitely lead the league in PPG.
On the upside..... With Ricks tendency to use short rotations, the aged Lakers stars would be playing big minutes, and be super tuckered out/injury plagued by the time the postseason comes around!

Does everybody in Sac like Rick simply because he was our coach during the glory years? Frankly, I think he has the personality of a door knob but that's just me.
Nah, he's actually pretty funny if you listen to his quotes sometimes. He isn't the most outgoing guy, but who cares?

uhh...I like him because he's a great coach? I mean, personally, I don't give a damn about a player's/coach's/GM's/whatever's personality, they're just supposed to do their job well that's it. Taking personality into the equation leads to boneheaded ideas, like, for instance, firing Rick Adelman in order to replace him with Eric Musselman or something.

If I were the Clippers, I would boot Vinny Del Negro's bum self to the curb and beg Adelman to mold that crew into something special. They obviously have more long term potential than the Lakers do at this point.

He was really funny sometimes, but had that really dry, dead-pan delivery. I think there were quite a few people who didn't realize when he was joking. That was almost the best part of it.
Who the heck cares what a coach's personality is, if he's a great coach? I liked Adelman for a lot of reasons, but the fact he could make me laugh out loud sometimes was a nice bonus. He also seems to get the most out of his players, how to use their strengths and minimize their weaknesses. I also liked that team issues stayed in the locker room. If there were any problems, you didn't hear about them in the news every day.
