We may never know what it took to get him back, but for most Kings fans the news that Pete Carril is again in the employ of the Sacramento Kings is good news indeed.

Coachie, as he's known to just about everyone, KNOWS the game of basketball. He knows how to work with young players - as his work with Kevin Martin attests - and the young players respect him and listen to him.

This is good news from the camp of the Kings. Is it just coincidence that an announcement comes out the same day that our rookie Jason Thompson will be starting on Friday at the power forward position? Regardless of the reason Thompson is finally getting the start, it's a pretty clear indication of a shift in focus to actually do what most of us have been clamoring for, begging for and even raging for - a true commitment to the youth and future of the franchise.

Rebuilding is painful. It's slow and arduous and as people have seen who've been reading the threads recently, it gets fans on edge with frayed nerves and very little to be hopeful about.

With Pete Carril back, I can't help but give a long deep sigh of relief. Finally, out of the chaos, at least a glimpse of daylight.

Welcome back, Coachie!!!

An interesting question to ponder is how many more games the Kings will win for the rest of the year just because of Coachie? None? Five? Ten? My guess would be five.

Glad to see Coachie back. He'll be great for the development of the young players.

I'm going to be off line soon. I'm moving into a new house, so they'll cut off my service here at some point. Anyway, I'm not dead.

Kingster - It's not going to be about winning games now. With Coachie, it's much like Yoda workng with Luke Skywalker. The focus, I'm almost positive, will be on developing the skill sets the kids will need going forward. The future is merely the present that hasn't arrived yet - but Coachie sees it.

bajaden - Good to see you. And pretty glad to know you're not dead.

:p

Say goodbye to your six satellite dishes! :D

I'm totally with you on his importance in developing the younger players. But I do have a feeling that his influence alone could play into the Kings winning some additional games. My shadow self might not be happy about that.:p
