Restricted Free Agents

Out of all the free agent big men, I have always thought Chandler and Dalembert would be the best fit next to Cousins. If we are unsuccessful in our attempts to sign one of them, I think Jordan would be the next best fit.

What are the chances that we would be able to pry Jordan away from the Clippers if the Kings really wanted him? The Clippers said they would match any offer for him, but we all know that is just a scare tactic. For example, nobody would match a max contract for him if someone was insane enough to offer it. My point is there must be an equilibrium point, just like a supply and demand graph, where the Clippers would let him go. What price do you think that is, and would he be worth it at that price?

I still think Battier would be a terrific sign for a one or two year deal even with Salmons starting for us. He would contribute defense, three point shooting, and he would be a great mentor for our youth players. He also would help us match up against the bigger small forwards in the league considering Salmons is on the smaller side at 6'6.

If we don't sign any small forwards this offseason and we are left with our group of Salmons, Garcia, Greene, and Honeycutt, I think it would be worth our while to try and sign Batum next offseason. He would provide defense, three point shooting (36.2% during the last 4 months), size, athleticism, and good character. He is a restricted free agent though. My questions are how much money would it take to steal Batum away from the Blazers, and would he be worth it at that price?

If we don't sign any big men this offseason and we go into the season with Cousins, Hickson, Thompson, and Whiteside, Mcgee would be a great player to go after. Mcgee is a super athletic seven footer who has a wingspan of around seven feet and six inches. With these skills along with how high he can jump (dunk competition), he has proven to be a shot blocking force in this league. He is also mobile enough to defend quicker big men like Dalembert did for us last year. I think he would be an excellent fit next to Cousins, and together they would become one of the strongest frontcourts in the league. Just like Batum, Mcgee will be a restricted free agent next year. Again, how much money would we need to offer to force the Wizards to let him go, and would he be worth that much?
