Chicago Bulls forward Andres Nocioni has agreed to a five-year contract worth about $38 million, the Chicago Tribune reported Friday.

The deal can't become official until the NBA's moratorium on free agent signings ends July 11. But Bulls general manager John Paxson confirmed the deal is in place, the Tribune reported. According to sources, the contract includes a team option for a sixth season, the newspaper reported.

If the Bulls re-sign Nocioni they're going to join the long list of teams that can only offer Darko the MLE. Had they lost Nocioni to another team they could have had some cap space.

This also sets the upper limit for Darko's value. Nocioni is older, but is clearly the better player. If Nocioni's value is 5 years at $38 million, Darko is the same or less.

Did hear somewhere that he turned down a slightly more lucrative deal from Memphis for more than $40 million. Still, if that's the case, I think I'd pay $7.6 million for Darko. Would rather pay Lee $1 million, though. :p

Wondering if Memphis makes a harder push for Varejao now. And wonder how that affects Darko... an interesting summer, no doubt.
