Reggie Evans

And so when do we start giving PDA props for targeting him? Or are we so infected by Brick's slander that we'll always think PDA "lucked out" that a team would even offer anything for Thornton? If you criticize his bad moves, then you have to praise the positive results equally.

Thornton and Reggie Evans could not be more opposite.

I'm not so sure PDA targeted Evans. If he did, getting rid of a SG, a vestigial part of the present Kings offense, and getting Evans was a stroke of genius.

Yes, it was well known that we were just beating off suitors for Thornton with a stick. I think it was that nearly 1pt/gm per $1mil scoring to contract ratio that was drawing so many bees.

The biggest plus that he brings is attitude - watch his interactions with the refs. He knows he'll get more with a smile and a pat on the back than the whining and berating that we've grown accustomed to seeing in Sac. Hopefully, his work ethic and his attitude will steer this team in the right direction.

Exactly. If this rubs off on Cousins, then Evans really could be one of the most vital additions imaginable. I think there's a good chance it will and maybe already has started.

The perfect example of how to play effectively hard at all times, but never be a distraction and detriment with the attitude. The opposite in fact...inspire team play, by leading with a positive vibe in respect for others, including the refs when a call doesn't go your way

He could be the Vlade to Cuz's Weber. Pretty different personality dynamics... but still: the seasoned vet with intangibles who commands respect who supports and backs up the acknowledged star. I can see Evans having a hugely positive impact on our whole situation. Probably would give him satisfaction to play that role as well. He could be very very loved here by the time his career is over.

There doesn't have to be a swarm of suitors to justify a move as wise. We get what's looking like an exact right fit for the value we had to give (basically what had become an albatross contract)... but you still think it's pure chance. I realize you stopped giving him any benefit of the doubt a while ago. I'm saying I don't agree with that line of thinking.

Edit: In fact, as I think about it, the fact that there WEREN'T many suitors for Thornton, and we got a player of such good fit, is EXACTLY why PDA deserves credit for this move. Duh.

The effect he will have on Cousins is unknown but a person would have to be nuts to think that Evans will have no effect and that the effect isn't positive. He is infectiously in a good mood whether it is fake or not. I've seen him complain to a ref with a big smile on his face and then pat the ref on the back as he gets back to the game. He makes his point and does not make an enemy.

Yes. We also have a very similar attitude and style with Quincy Acy, who is a player Cousins age. The veteran leader in Evans and the young up and comer in Acy. As well as the easy going class act in Rudy Gay

Wait for it....

Culture change? The plan starting to become clear?

It's interesting to me that the "real" tough guys - Evans and Acy - play with smiles on their faces. These guys seem to be the antidote to Cousins' negative vibe. Hopefully, we add a couple more to the roster just like them.

I totally agree. The reason that it's so interesting, is because it proves that you don't have to act like a "thug" in order to play hard and effectively tough basketball. You can be a "chearleader" on the sideline when you're not in the game, can have fun with refs, can be light hearted when you make a mistake, and can interact with the fans and improve their positive experience at games. Last but not least, be an example to the young fans who are watching every move you make.

All of these types of things are possible and help the team pull together and improve the "culture",..while interestingly, still playing hard and tough at the same time

If he can command KG's respect, surely he can be a leader for our younger players, no?

Won't get tired of reading quotes like these:

"I wanted to play with another workhorse," Garnett said, "a person I admired, thought gave a lot to the game when it came to just being a dog and worked hard. I've been a superfan of his for a long time and I will concur and actually say that he's a big part of why I came here."
