Reflections: Starburry's $15 Shoes

I have been following this whole thing with Stephan Marbury's $15 shoes and $10 clothing line... and I think it is great... great for kids and great for the NBA. Here is my thought, why can't more NBA players get in with Marbury's company to offer the same line of shoes for different teams (Marbury's are mostly Knicks look-a-likes). Why not a $15 Ron Artest or Mike Bibby shoe? What are your thoughts?

The one other NBA player that came to mind when I heard of Marbury's shoes is...............Shaq. His shoes fall in the catagory of $12-24 price range. Sold at Payless Shoe Stores.

I thought of Shaq also, other than him i can't think of anyone else.

Hakime did the same thing back in the day, I think he was the first to do somting aobut the obscenity of gortesquely over priced shoes markedt to kids. Bravo to all of them!

I remember when Webber almost crapped himself when he found out his shoes were selling for $175. He then signed with Fila for a while and theysold for $80 I believe.

I saw Shaq's shoes at WalMart. I think its great and should happen a whole lot more. I'm not a Marbury fan, but kudos to him on this. :)

That's my point; why not have one player from each team or division do something like this for the area kids?

Because, unfortunately, it's all about the money$$$

(BTW..I agree with you and think what Stephan is doing is a good thing.)

I realize there is a lot of $$ to be had... but a guy like Kevin Martin, SAR or Brad Miller is likely to both make more $$ using this method than the traditional way and would be helping out a lot of people. The NBA should require each team or division have a player on this shoe/clothing line.

I don't think that many teenages will buy Marbury's shoes compared to the other stars in the leauge because they would think that just because it so cheap that something most be wrong with them, lol. And they would rather buy the new Wades or Kobes which is priced higher.

But with that aside i do think what Starbury is doing is great and more players should do it.

I really don't think guys like Sar, Martin, and Miller could make money off shoes. Maybe in the city they play for they could make some $$$ but the big time money comes from national and international markets and they don't have the name or star ability to do that. They will most likely loss out to players such as Wade and Lebron. But i could just picture teenagers in Jacksonville talking about their new shoes it would be some thing like this:

Teen 1: Hey guys, i got the new T-Macs

Teen 2: Yea thoes look nice but i got the new Brons

Teen 1: Damm!, i wanted to get thoes.

Teen 3: Yea, Yea , Yea. You guys might have the new T-Macs and LBJs but i got SARS!!!!! Now what.

Teen 1 and 2: You got SARS?!?!?!?!?!?!!?

Teen 3: No, I mean the new Shareef Abdur-Rahim shoes.

Teen 2: Who's he???

Teen 3: He plays for the kings, he is the guy with that mean spin move in the post.

Teen 1: Nope, still don't know who you are talking about.

Teen 3: Do you remember that one game, where Yao crossed over this one guy on the fast break and dunked it. He was that guy who got crossed.

Teen 1: Yea I remember him now, that was sad.

Teen 3: Yea, I know.

Points well taken. It still seems like it would be cool if there were more practical solutions to real-world problems.

The Spaldings, yeah i also love when players step back and see what these things can do for people. I am a Marbury fan after hearing the news about this last week.
