Reflections of this summer: Excitement

Of course we all want the kings to win a championship. But that's not going happen for a while. This team is not good right now, but the point is, we're heading in the right direction. We have 3 new players and a whole new coaching staff. We're going to be better than last years team, why not be excited about that?

No, I didn't say that. I say you shouldn't be excited about this team until they give you a real reason to be. All of us here at KingsFans are loyal to our team and sometimes even build our schedule around the games, at what point to we deserve something in return? True, we're not going to be as bad last year but you are making it sound like we're going to win 40 games. I'm sorry but a new coach and 3 rookies isn't going to do get it done. I'm a loyal Kings fan to the fullest but that doesn't mean I'm satisfied with a 17 win team, as I pay money to go watch games I expect to see a good product on the floor. I am still going to and will always be going to there games, but I'll be really excited when we bring in some better players.

You're entitled to your opinion(s), of course, as are the fans who think the Kings are on the brink of an NBA championship. Thing is, I don't think I've noticed anyone on this board expressing such craziness (winning a championship anytime soon). But we do have those who always have to express their negative vibes every time someone expresses hope or optimism. They can't help it; they attack it like a fly attacks s***, or like a conservative attacks a liberal! Is having a little hope or optimism for our team such a threat? Again, no one is calling the Kings championship-caliber, so don't pretend you're just trying to save us from our own fanaticism. It seems to me that the fanaticism here is the need to constantly rain down on people.

The point you're totally missing is that what you need to be excited doesn't necessarily mean the same to other fans. You can prefer to sit back on your hands and wait until the team is exciting to you. That's cool. But you don't have the right to expect everyone else to follow your lead and you certainly do not have the right to make judgments about when people should be excited.

The point you're totally missing is that what you need to be excited doesn't necessarily mean the same to other fans. You can prefer to sit back on your hands and wait until the team is exciting to you. That's cool. But you don't have the right to expect everyone else to follow your lead and you certainly do not have the right to make judgments about when people should be excited.

I feel like I'm being made out to be the bad guy here. I'm really not trying to judge what anyone should or should not do. All I'm saying is that I think Kings fans deserve better.

And I'm simply pointing out that there are a lot of different types of fans. Fans of any team deserve the best they can get - but in reality there are very, very few teams that can produce at the highest level every year. They rise ... and fall ... and hopefully rise again.

This is a team in transition - a team struggling to rebuild after some pretty lean years.

You came into the thread and attempted to cancel out any kind of excitement a lot of us had expressed for the coming season. I'm only saying if you don't agree with the excitement some of us feel, at least respect our right to feel it. In other words, don't rain on our parade. If you don't want to be a part of it, we understand, but we're having quite a good time looking forward to the coming season with a little bit of hope for a change. You know?

Well, I would suggest that saying everybody excited about the team must have boring lives in giant, bolded letters was an invitation to respond. That's what happened.

Back to the topic of the thread....I'm excited to see where this team goes in the upcoming season with all the youngsters and a new coach.
