Question RE: DMV

I need to obtain an original copy of one of my vehicles from DMV, and I am trying to do that online, but it is asking me questions for security and, while I "know" the answer, there are two possible options which could be the right answer, to my way of thinking, and I'm concerned that if I answer incorrectly, I will not be given a second chance.

Here is the question:

What year did you title your [VEHICLE]
The trouble being that I am not familiar with the use of the word "title" in that context... When they ask me in what year did I "title" the vehicle, are they referring to the year I got it, or the year I paid it off?

The year you titled it with the DMV. So, I think the year you got it. I'm 50% sure that I'm 100% correct.

The year you "titled" it means the year you registered the title information with DMV. (Meaning the year you obtained the vehicle and added your name to the title, whether as legal owner or registered owner.)

If you titled the vehicle in CA, then I would say this is correct. Sounds reasonable to me for all states, but some states have weird (or different) definitions. Check your current registration and see if the title date is on it.

Off topic but I truly hate the DMV. It's been over 4 weeks since I renewed my license and I still have not received it. They close on the weekends. In October they closed 3 Fridays out of the month. Their hours suck. The wait inside is atrocious. And the best part: they don't even care.

A coworker also renewed recently and is tstill waiting. I think the delay is because the changed the CA licenses recently.

And, completely off topic - every time I see the word coworker, I read it in my brain as "cow-orker" instead of "co-worker" for some reason. :p

Welcome to smaller government. And its hard to care a lot, when you're constantly asked to do more work with less resources, until its just not remotely possible to do a good job for everyone anymore and everybody's blaming you for the problem.

I've worked for the feds and the State for over 30 years. It has gone from OK to bad, to worse. Its totally demoralizing. I've always been one of the best and brightest employees and worked hard for everyone, because I do really care. I have finally broken. I have a job that can't be done well by one person. Its not humanly possible. In California, we have the fewest government employees per capita in the US. Practically killing yourself for your job gets you no reward, just more work. It hasn't been worth the health problems.

So not being able to do the best job, and the job I expect from myself (I have very high standards), will just continue to sap my soul, until I can finally retire. Yay.

Sorry, I just had to vent. It's like asking someone to paint a house for $200, while handing you a worn-out paintbrush and one bucket of crappy paint.

I completely agree. It's so sad.
