Question about Kings' games on TV in Tracy area

We recently moved to the Tracy area in San Joaquin county from the Bay area. Thought that finally I shall be able to see all Kings games (haven't invested in league pass).

Unfortunately, DirecTv provides me news from the Sacramento area, but sports are still from the bay area :(. I get the Warriors games and not the Kings games.

Am thinking of buying an antenna and see if I can get the games that way. Can someone please confirm if games are broadcast, and can be received via an antenna, or do I need cable (in my case league pass) for it? If so, I shall check if I can get Sacramento area feeds in my area.

not for me. 696 should be the warriors channel

Both 696 and 698 show Bay area sports. If some other game is on 696, they move BB to 698. At least this was the case when we moved towards the end of last season to our new place. Called Directv, and they said that per FCC laws (or something like that), they can give only Bay Area sports in our region.

Shall check again from Monday onwards. However, if someone gets the stream via the public broadcast, please let me know, and I shall see if that's available here.

well if you get the most expensive package that should change. Like the most expensive package has like CSN new england, fox sports south west, etc. You should hopefully not need to get it though, but if you do then it's still cheaper than LP I think.

Thanks a lot. Shall check it out.

Saw the listings for Monday, and the game is listed on 698. If I get it, great. Else, shall look at different options.

Tracy is just inside the bay area range for csnba I think. Since its regions based on some bs federal laws, It doesn't matter how much you shell out, they won't let you watch the Sacramento csn. Correction, they may let u watch the channel but black out the actual games. They do the same here, CSNBA is available on my direct tv but any time the Warriors played they blacked out the game. An antenna won't do anything for you since its a cable channel.

I have heard people using relatives address's and actually having the dish and receivers working in another area. The local channels and regional channel are all based on the physical address you give them. (Thats why RV owners get all these channels unlocked but they pay a much higher rate.)

Wow talk about a bunch of misinformation. The broadcast rules are set by the NBA, not federal laws.

Using another persons address is a violation of the Directv agreement. RV users do not get all the channels or pay more. They may get the national broadcast channels if they ask for a waiver. Otherwise, they have to contact Directv for their current location to get the area's local channels. Local channels are a spot beam for the area.

I watch warrior games on league pass. No reason you shouldn't be able to watch Kings games.

I would not pay for the more expensive package. I don't know why BMiller52 thinks that would make a difference. If you have the channel, you have the channel. If the game comes in, then it works, if it gets blacked out, then you're out of luck.

As somebody else said, since these games are on a cable channel, an antenna won't help.

I live on the central coast and when I have used DirecTV, they have been pretty good about blacking out the Kings games. However, when I had DishNetwork, they often let the Kings games be broadcast, including all of last year. I'm not sure if that was an oversight on their part or not, but I don't think it's supposed to be that way so I wouldn't actually recommend switching just for that.

Unfortunately for me I'm back to DirecTV again, so I have a feeling that the games will be blacked out again. Not much I can do but wait until the second game (the first one is on NBATV I think) and see what happens.

NBA League Pass is free on DirecTV until some time in the first week of January, so you can watch that free for the first few games. After that, I'm guessing you'll have to pay for League Pass to see Kings games.

From San Diego it will be interesting if we will get the Kings games at the Lakers and Clippers (only one this season and we all should be going in person anyway!!!!). The Warriors @ Kings pre-season game WAS blacked out down here as we "didn't have access" as the error message said. Hard to know what is what.

The regional sports channels are set by zip code. Your zip code is going to be in the bay area. So, you will get the Warrior games. If you get an over the air antenna you still won't get the Kings games. All Kings and Warrior games are on Comcast Bay area california. Your in the bay area so you get the warrior games. getting other regional sports channels won't help either. They black out most of the games. I think the only way you will see the Kings is to get League pass. Unless things have changed.

Thanks for all the responses. Yes, the first game was blacked out on 698, with the message that it can't be shown in our area. Since it was on NBA TV, I was able to view it anyway. The first couple of weeks should be fine, since the league pass is free.

Was really hoping an antenna shall help. Seems like that is ruled out too. Might pitch in for league pass, though that might lead to fights at home :D

FYI... my DirecTV guide says Bulls vs Kings on channel 698, but it's a Cal NCAA basketball game instead. However, channel 699 and 699-1 (HD) are playing the Kings game. Since I might be in the same area as you, it's possible that if you check those channels you will be able to watch Kings basketball.
