He has gotten his chance to prove what kind of player he is and he has, Salmons is a starter on this team, Garcia is an Energizer off the bench (no disprespects to Garcia's game but hes more suited for that role right now) I think with the emergence of Salmons we have to look to move Artest.

We have to try and swing a deal to get a powerforward to help this teams weakness in rebounding, defence, blocks ect...

Petrie needs to realize Johns potential and his game right now and let the kid play. He needs too address the need we need filled the most, a starting PF.

My move from here would be start Artest at SF next game and John at PG and let them worry about igniting the offence, we need to show the league that Artest can still play at an elite level and could be a very usefull piece to a team competeing for a championship. Get Artests trade value up and get this team back on the right track or at least switch up the roster for the sake of keeping the fans interested and enthusiastic.

Anyways thats my ramble about John Salmons and improving the team...thoughts would be nice!

I agree, and this is the reason I was drooling at news of a Bulls/Lakers 3-way trade which involved us. Tyrus Thomas may not be big, but he sure as hell plays big.. and he's starter quality to boot.

I would love to have Thomas aswell he brings crazy energy, I really hope Petrie is looking deeper into trade scenerios like this one.
I feel this is a move that NEEDS to be made and soon.

The fantasy notes on Artest from Yahoo say they're planning on starting him at PF on Wednesday. That would put our best players on the floor, but we'll have to see how he handles the size thing.

guarantee a hell of a lot better than the garbage we have out there right now.

Ron Ron is beastly, I think he'll do alright!

Indeed props to Salmons... who knew at the time the Kings were picking up such a great talent. I do not think even Petrie knew Salmons would be THAT good.

Au contraire. I think Geoff Petrie knew Salmons had the potential and brought him here in the hopes he would fulfill it. People are so quick to criticize Petrie for bad moves (*cough* Mikki Moore *cough*) that I think they should be equally as quick to recognize when something Petrie did actually pans out.

:)

Would rather put Miller at PF, and Hawes at C. But in order to kep Salmons on the floor with some playing time I guess Artest at PF might work against smaller lineups.

Miller is finally grabbing rebounds again and at least spending some time in the paint. The LAST thing we want to do is shift him out to the 4 IMHO. The ONLY time Brad Miller has shown any kind of productivity at the power forward position was when he was on the court with Vlade Divac. People really need to get over the whole Brad could be a 4 concept. It's simply not true. Put him up against the strong 4s in the league and it would be even more embarrassing than our current "power forward by committee" assemblage.

Fine, than put Hawes at the 4. Doesn't really matter, but I think both Hawes, and Miller could be good together on the floor. Hawes is a post player, and Miller plays up high. It's not like there would be two Millers on the floor. I bet given the opportunity against a bigger lineup those two would flourish. I was not trying to bring back the good 'ol days of Miller being next to Vlade. I was actually meaning to put Hawes at PF instead of Miller, but I typed it up wrong.

We are talking about putting Artest at PF which is much more absurd than Hawes. I like the idea against smaller lineups but playing four 6'7 players at the same time is kind of dumb from an NBA standpoint for any extended periods of time. But against small lineups I like Artest playing some PF more so than Salmons like we have been doing when KT is playing center.

You are not going to, in all probability, see Hawes starting anytime soon.

He's recovering from surgery and missed all of camp and the first 5 games. He's going to need lots of time to work into shape and learn enough to be a starter.

And with Artest back, that's one more guy relegated to the bench looking for minutes.
