Jamal Magloire for Sam Dalembert when Sammy's BYC comes off
Why they do the Washington trade:
Korver's a bad defender and Steven's a good shotblocker but he's not a good man to man defender. They swap picks with Washington and move down in the draft. The Sixers get a big PG that's good on D so Iverson can play SG on offense again. Antonio Daniels is another guy who can handle the ball when Iverson gets double teamed. Antonio Daniels would be more valuable to Philly then Korver and Hunter.
Why they do the Memphis trade: Iguodala hasn't shown much progress and he won't as long as he's playing with Iverson/CWebb. He needs to be in a system where he gets the ball more and there's not 2 guys who take a lot of shots. Once Eddie Jones comes off the books Memphis also has their replacement in Iguodala(who can defend and is athletic). Battier is a good defender, a decent shooter, and he can handle the ball a bit. Shane Battier is a smarter player than Iguodala is and if you want to win with Iverson than you need smart vets. Iguodala is too inconsistent, he can score a lot but there are nights when he literally takes 2 shots. Philly also gets a player with a lot of potential in Hakim Warrick(he's athletic, can defend, and play the 3 or 4).
Why Philly does the NYK trade: Chris can't play defense anymore. Iverson and Chris don't mix that well and when either of them get the ball it stops because they each want their shots. Chris is getting up their in age with a bad contract, if they want to trade him there's not many teams that will take on his contract. This way they get a defensive athletic player that can hustle in David Lee. Mo Taylor is filler and his contract expires in 07(they could trade him if they want before the deadline for some more help). Quentin can defend and spot up for Iverson(kind of like Korver but Korver's not as good on defense).
Why they do the Milwaukee trade: Dalembert doesn't box out or play man to man defense very well. He's on a huge contract too. I'm not sure I would though, I don't know if this much turn over for a club is good(in fact I don't think it is, but they need to make a lot of trades to get better defensively. Magloire is a double double guy with good man to man defense.
MLE targets: Reggie Evans/Lorenzen Wright.
These guys defend and don't need the ball to be effective. Evans can clean up Iverson's misses.
Re-sign:
Willie Green, why: He's a decent young combo guard with athleticism. He can come in off the bench and they missed him most of this season.
Shavlik Randolph, why: He hustles, boxes out, and plays defense. He's a smart player and he's cheap. I think you reward his effort by re-signing him.
Basic roster After all these trades:
Daniels/Green
Iverson/Q-Rich
Battier/Warrick
Evans/Lee/Randolph
Dalembert(Magloire?)/Randolph
That team is pretty good defensively and Iverson is going to be most of the offense like he was when they got to the finals. The guys can rebound and they hustle. When Philly went to the finals, they had a lot of defensive players around Iverson and he scored 30 PPG. He's a smarter player now and a better shooter.
