So what happens if the NBA suddenly counts the premiere of Russia amongst its ownership ranks? Is it considered undue influence if an opposing owner can say "before you decide to turn down this trade offer, please consider the thousands of nuclear warheads to which I have the codes"?

I would be wary about making Putin angry. I don't know how trumped up Mikhail Khodorkovsky issues were(if at all) but there is a history of finding laws being broken when you are a political opponent.

Putin keeps finding ways to stay in control. The Khodorkovsky ordeal is questionable and the press lives in a bit of fear. Dealing with Stern is far safer.
