Programming Alert: Mayor Johnson on with Grant Napear @ 520

KJ handled Grant's questions very well. Grant tried to sandbag him on the Anaheim letter but KJ saw through Grant's BS and handled it with poise.

I completely disagree with KJ on his fighting spirit comment. Yes, the Kings fans are showing they have fighting spirit. No, the politicians and city council have zero fighting spirit.

Quit blowing smoke up my you know what. If the city leaders had any fighting spirit, we wouldn't be in this situation.

KJ has fighting spirit. He isn't responsible for the current situation. If he'd have been in charge 5 or 10 years ago, things may be different now.

Publicly giving up doesn't fall under my definition of fighting spirit. If it wasn't for the fighting spirit of the here we stay and here we build crowd, we would be completely hopless at this point.

Being realistic and honest is not tantamount to giving up. Would you rather he give us a false sense of optimism by pretending that he has some control over the Maloof's decision?

I don't think he's really giving up. This thing looks like it could be headed to the courtroom. I don't think that counts as giving up.

I also don't see how he's giving up when he's already focused on getting a new arena and a new team if the Kings leave. That may very well be our only hope for the future so I for one am glad he's focused on it.

He said he has not thrown in the towel, but the way he phrased things sounded like he did. Maybe its just a CYA thing, in the event the team does move. =/

But, he will be going in front of the Board of Gov to help plead Sacramento's case.
