Until an unfortunate last game flameout (which btw explained almost singlehandedly why the starting lineup suddenly seemed so punchless and Cuz seemed so alone out there) Collison had a great preseason. Our second best payer of the preseason. maybe even our best until Cuz decided to step up and remind people he's Cuz. Check out the efficiency -- our struggles this preseason were not due to an IT related falloff in our PG play. It was our best preseason position other than C. Of course Collison has been around, he's not consistently this good. But during the preseason he was efficient, ran the offense, pressed on the break, and kept us moving forward offensively without ever looking like a star himself. Very good support player in preseason. Let's hope it carries over.

And the good and the bad news is that our second best guard of the preseason happened to play the same position as our first best guard of the preseason. Sessions looked punchy and aggressive all preseason, and had a natural 6th man's type game with his constant attacking of the rim when he was in there. Now defensively there will always be issues, there were selfish moments that need to be corralled, at times his touch around the rim was abysmal, and he's not a natural three point shooter (perhaps less of a concern for a bencher than a starter next to Cousins). But all preseason long he was the bench punch/occasional starter punch that you would have hoped Landry would be. When he came in it was in full attack mode and things happened. If it continues, and assuming Rudy comes online that at least gives us 4 positions filled: C/SF/PG/6th.

Ray McCallum: 5gms 8.6min 2.4pts (.444 .500 1.000) 1.0reb 0.8ast 0.2stl 0.2blk 0.4TO 1.2FL

Playing behind our two best guards at the moment there don't look to be minutes for Ray, and until a short little burst in the final game which rather confusingly led to calls for him to be playing over the very effective Collison/Sessions tandem, he had been invisible all preseason, never moreso than in his one long 21 minute stint when he was out there but stayed conspicuously out of the fray just moving the ball to vets who largely ignored him. If he had a couple of inches he might threaten the passive McLemore/Stauskas duo, but unfortunately I think we're stuck with them.
