Sasha is too talented to play with 3rd string. When he is open (for a shot) it's pretty much a guarantee. His quick release on free throws is just strange to watch, but it goes in. He has tools, IQ, boxes out, just does all the little things right.
Domas made a mid-range shot.

He has a quick release on free throw attempts?

Hot takes
- McGee still has game, but has grown out of playing defense in the preseason
- Raptors didn't concede Keegan many (any?) open 3s. That part of his game may get squashed a bit this year, so it's a good thing he's added a rim attack to his repertoire.
- Davion is figuring out what a good 3pa looks like for him.

I do enjoy how Brown goes thru a process of vet before rookie but once he makes the decision, he moves quickly. Remember Okpala starting over Keegan to start the season? Can’t complain when given your shot. I’m guess8ng this is how it’s going with Duarte if he doesn’t step up his game. Because based on first scrimmage, Colby did it the right way which is what Brown said he wants out of guys right now instead of chasing wins.
It’s not going to take long for Sasha to have “earned” his time. Clearly an asset and an exciting one at that.

I’m also going to say that Ford is eventually going to show his worth with minor minutes or emergency minutes when injuries hit. Offense will just flow better with him than most of our combo guards point guards.

I did not watch the fourth quarter, but Jordan Ford had a nice stat line, except that he had zero assists. I hope to see more of him. The bench as a whole had 19 assists, not exactly "ball on fire," given how few minutes the starters played.

Wondering if the rotation ends up being something like…

Fox (28) / Mitchell (20)
Huerter (20) / Monk (24) / Fox (4)
Murray (32) / Huerter (10) / Sasha (6)
Barnes (30) / Lyles (12) / Sasha (12)
Sabonis (32) / McGee (10) / Lyles (6)

Fox = 32
Sabonis = 32
Murray = 32
Huerter = 30
Barnes = 30
Monk = 24
Mitchell = 20
Sasha = 18
Lyles = 18
McGee = 10

I like this breakdown but I still think the Lyles/Sasha minutes gets tricky. You have 54 minutes accounted for at the 4. I suppose if you dropped Barnes to 28 min and Lyles to 16 (10 at the 4) you could find 16 minutes for Sasha. McGee changes everything if Brown is committed to him as the back up 5.

The big thing is how much time the Kings will be able to spend with 3 small G's out there this year. The West is even bigger. The Lakers are huge, the Suns have a lot of stocky guards, the Mavs will be pretty big on the wing and at G, the Clippers if healthy have great size, the Pels, etc. If the Kings can mismatch their way to an advantage it's possible but we already saw in game 1 of preseason what the bigger G/F teams are going to do. Just beast the Kings right to the rim.

At the time he was in, our team on the floor was garbage. Jacked up 3 after jacked up 3, all clanging off the rim. I'm not yet convinced of Ford's effectiveness against regular rotation players, but I like to think that particular stat line will improve when he knows it may be an assist-for-points rather than just assisting guaranteed turnovers.

was sorta watching the game. First unit looked great at the start. Loving Keegan's aggressiveness. I think we seem him take a leap up near 18 ppg. Love the Sasha minutes, but wish he would have gotten a run with the second unit. I was originally thinking brown was just sitting him today. I wonder if keegan or HB takes the next game off and Sasha gets a run with the first team. Was hard to really get a feel for his defense in a game like this, but man seems like he's such a natural fit for what we run.

oh.. and super happy with JaVale. He is going to be a perfect 15 minute a game guy to back up Domas.
Agreed! As for the score, it's important to remember that Coach subbed in several backups throughout the half and then sat the starters completely for the 3rd and 4th quarters. I was hoping we would do a whole lot better, but I don't think the starters were expecting to play a lot tonight and it showed.

Not really. He just does the same thing he does on jump shots - instead of following through and leaving his shooting hand/arm up, he brings both hands down to his sides.

It looks odd and makes it seem like there's extra motion or quick movements, but it's after the ball is out of his hands.

Definitely not traditional shot mechanics, but just like with Peja back in the day, it only matters whether it goes in. And it does.

You know those players that play jokes on other players who shoot the ball before they finish their motion? That's what his shot reminds me of..

Found it.. It's called the "glitch shot" lol.. His shot kinda reminds me of the glitch shot.

The Raptors gave us fits last year too.

They are a difficult team for us to match up against. Anunoby, Barnes, & Siakam all have excellent length and strength. A SF/PF/C combination of Murray/Barnes/Sabonis has the strength to compete (maybe not Murray since he’s still working on that as a young guy) but they are severely outmatched length wise (not to mention our guys aren’t really the “high flying” type).

It’s going to be important for Murray to continue to get stronger (not worried) and his length at SF is good/above average (not elite). Sabonis will always be ground bound player with below average length at C. Having a PF who has the size/length/athleticism of an Anunoby, Siakam, or S. Barnes would go a long way to help make our frontcourt more formidable against more matchups.

Having said that, if you’re intentionally putting out a three 6’3” & under guard lineup while the opposing team has Anunoby, Barnes, & Siakam on the floor, you’re probably asking for a world of hurt.

I’m not really going to criticize Brown for that decision. It’s preseason for gosh sakes. He probably just wants to get his guys some burn and wants to see how different lineups fair against different matchups. It’s less about winning and more about gaining useful information about your team so you’re better prepared for the real thing.

Brown had Keegan bring the ball up court to initiate at least once. So it's obvious he was just throwing things at them to work on. He wasn't coaching the game to win it, and if you took it as such then you're silly.

Not disputing your comment, just adding to it.
