Ungh. If only moral victories counted. We didn't look too lost this week, although I'd like to see us consistently feign a stronger attempt at defense throughout the course of this year. Anyway, on to the rankings!

The Kings gave the Warriors a real scare on Saturday, but are now 8-37 without DeMarcus Cousins over the last four seasons. Cousins could be back this week, but George Karl has already used six different starting lineups and his top reserve - Darren Collison - has a hamstring injury. After hosting the Spurs on Monday, the Kings play eight straight games against the Eastern Conference.
This week: vs. SAS. vs. DET, vs. BKN, vs. TOR

They’ve lost five straight, but for all the jokes, the bottom line is it’s hard to make eight new players fit in right away, no matter who you are. They gave the Warriors a run for their money off a back-to-back and DeMarcus Cousins comes back from injury this week. Sacramento should get better. Should.

DeMarcus Cousins comes back Monday, and not a moment too soon. They're a mess without him, despite a spirited game vs. the Warriors Saturday where they covered the spread. Rajon Rondo looks alive, so that's a plus.

Based on records from last season, only New Orleans and Memphis face a harder schedule in the first 10 games of the season than the Kings, who play Toronto in their 11th game and haven't had DeMarcus Cousins for the last four. So we're going to tone down our glee about Omri Casspi's 3-point shooting until things perk up a bit.

DeMarcus Cousins missing time with injury isn’t the only issue, the Kings’ offense is 5.5 points per 100 possessions better when Rajon Rondo sits (and the defense is 11.9 per 100 better). Rondo isn’t going to lose time to Darren Collison in the short term because Collison is battling a hamstring injury.
Mean Ranking: 25.8
Precipitous Drop! NBCSports has a curious stat, though...
