Potential Trade with Hornets

i like the idea of getting butler and wright but with garcia and greene on the team i dont see the need for them... if we could somehow get a 3rd team involved to trade for a player we could use that would be cool....

Can Someone Close This Thread Theres No Potential Trade With The Hornets... In Fact The Odds Of Us Trading With The Hornets Is Really Slim To None!

Agreed. We are not going to trade Salmons to the Hornets. Period.

The whole logistics doesn't work - the Hornets' five guys during crunch time are: Paul,Posey,Peja,West, and Chandler -- who are you going to sit in order for Salmons to play? If you say sit Peja then you're insane. If you say sit Posey then you're just thinking in terms of fantasy bball. If you say sit West and go with a small lineup then you're even more insane. If you say play Salmons for 20 mins and sit him during crunch time then this move is pointless.

Silliness.

The Hornets are struggling precisely becuase they can't get consistent play out of their SG/SF crew (well West and Chandler starting to rebound at some point would help too). They are playing Rasual Butler minutes. Julian Wright pops up. Peja didsappears as often as not, and Posey is a roleplayer. Meanwhile MoPete retired three years ago. There is an obvious spot for a John Salmons there for a squad with championship aspirations -- the only question is whether he can play off the ball or not. Otherwise the rotation solidifies as Salmons/Peja/Posey, with the Butler/MoPete/Wright trio expendable. Wright being the player of interest for us.

AMEN. Took the words right out of my mouth.

This is the difference between those who watch the games and those who watch the boxscore.

The devils are always in the details. I could only guess how you'd use Salmons because you said nothing - no specific, just a bunch of generalities. You can fill in Salmons name with several other role-playing swingmen and reach the same conclusion. It's too simpleton to say, oh they need help at the wing, hey let's send them a wing. If it's that simple, the problem should have already been solved with the arrival of James Posey.

In fact, the mere question of whether Salmons can play off the ball or not, is the problem. It's a big problem. The question shouldn't be whether he can play off the ball, it's why would you want him to? To have Salmons play off the ball is like having AI plays off the ball. It's not their style and they aren't as effective doing it. The whole idea of trading for Salmons and then have him play off the ball, is like hiring Judd Apatow to write a chick flick. The question isn't whether Apatow can write a feminine movie, it's why would you bother in the first place? Talk about dumb idea.
