Another landing spot for Monk could be Atlanta. They have that trade exception and could use pop off the bench. They could make the finals next year given how open the East is. Not sure what the compensation would be

I think Atlanta holds out for Gianni’s at the end of the summer
Deebo's not going to sit around quietly for a "gap" year (the concept is ridiculous - you're either evaluating young talent or trying to win with old). I think that there will be a market for him from an Eastern team but he may want to stay West.
I think it's a forgone conclusion that Scott Perry has one of the difficult, if not the most difficult, jobs in the league. Based on his past press conferences since being named the GM, and the players we were able to obtain the past two days (via the draft), he seems to have a very solid foundation set in terms of how he envisions the construction of the ideal basketball team that will situate said team in the best position to contend for a championship.I’m getting the idea that Perry knows how to construct a team.
Rumblings he’ll do what he can to move DeRozan, LaVine and Monk. Less rumours pointing to moving Sabonis. Im not sure how easy any of this will be but I now like it, especially after what appears a successful draft turning very little into quite a bit of young talent.
Schroder and Chris Boucher would solidify the starting unit. We have a youthful bench now that we can develop while still remaining competitive.

Ya I can’t get behind starting Schroeder and Boucher that’s madness if you’re trading monk and Derozan then we should have a wing that’s starting next to Keegan. If Schroeder is the pg pickup he can come off the bench no reason to start a mediocre vet, Carter was a lottery pick if he can’t start then he’s not as good as y’all think.
If they don't give Carter a chance to prove himself then they don't know what they're doing then it's up to him to prove he wants it. This is already being called for what it likely is, a gap year. A gap year is one that is set to go either way. Domas and the vets will have their chance on a short leash to prove they're worth it, if not, other way ASAP. If they can get someone like Schroder on a short deal great. If they go out and bust out a full MLE on any of these PG's the Kings are stupid. Just like they were stupid when they didn't immediately move Holmes once they traded for Domas. The odd man out certainly feels like Monk. He's the only one that doesn't really fit almost any of what Perry has talked about. And then it's the same thing it was always going to be paying 20 million a year to a backup sparkplug. People argued about it but guess what, nope, the value is what it is. Monk got a brief chance to see if he could make the jump up to megastar but he's not at that level. He just isn't. That doesn't mean if he goes to a team that needs him and can give him a starting spot he won't more than earn that contract though.
Given every single thing Scott has said in his pressers and the sort of guys he’s drafted/UDFA’d it sorta feels like the Devin Carter trade situation was wishful thinking from butthurt Kings fans who blame him for Fox leaving for some reason and other teams looking to take advantage of the team. The kid fits every single criteria Scott claims to be looking for.
I don't know Vivek so all of this is speculation but I think he got railroaded into giving Brown an extension before he was ready to give and after the December Brown had he just said "you f'd me" and canned him. At that point Fox and Monte were dead men walking too. And I think he probably had a similar emotional outburst over Fox refusing to sign an extension despite what I imagine he views as having bent the franchise over backwards to make Fox a superstar. He allowed Monte the decency of finishing out the season since I don't think he viewed Monte as sticking a knife in his back or anything, but imagine he was ultimately disappointed with the supporting cast he built around the beam team after the first year.I just don't buy Vivek letting Perry stay patient after everything that transpired last season. If he were truly fine staying patient, he wouldn't have signed off on canning Brown and canning Monte and let them continue to build on the core they built.
I think Carter needs to learn how to play point but I would like to give him a summer with Bobby.
The more vets added, the more the youth can’t develop into anything more than role players. Keegan is the one guy who has more in the tank offensively but not if he’s relegated to being the 4 th option on the floor.
Keon has a little bit more in there in regards to penetrating ability but looks capped out which is fine.
Carter is still unknown

This assumes a lot but nothing that I think is out of character for what we've seen out of the ~12 years we've gotten to know the guy.
That said I don't buy Vivek giving Perry a year to "see what they have" or anything of the sort. I imagine he's giving Perry a leash to ship guys and get fair value and that he expects Perry to get rid of the redundancies that were created over the past two campaigns while building on the talent that remains. I think that means getting the best possible deal for two of Deebo/Monk/LaVine, having a more traditional guard rotation, and getting a big wing or PF that will allow the team to play with some size. And I would bet Perry has explained that to get max value on those guys he probably needs to have until the trade deadline to make two winning moves.
I feel like Vivek was pretty patient with Vlade, patient with Luke, honestly the only impatient thing he did was sack Brown and while I have no inside information I really do think it came down to him thinking that they had a deal for 4 years with an option after 3 years and Brown using the media to exercise his option a year early. I really think he felt done dirty by it, and people don't want to acknowledge that because it humanizes a guy the media has conditioned us to hate. We'll see for sure. My read is that Vivek is just the pure opposite of patient and expects results and fast. If Perry decides to run it back and we get the same 40-42 win season... welp now he's OTC for his job. And again, if he was happy with the direction of the team, he would have kept Monte.

You might be able to pin Deebo on Vivek but that had to at least partially have something to do with the fear over Fox refusing to re-sign. Again someone that the org was more than patient with in promoting to be the face of the franchise.
I hope they let Carter run the point in summer league kinda like what they did with Keon last year to see what they have there.
Still boggles my mind we had Keon here the whole time and he couldn't get consistent minutes under Brown and that's a big part of why we stumbled so hard. One would think. Fox was complaining about wings and didn't seem to have a problem initially with DeMar. This is why it would make almost no sense for the Kings to keep any build going that was intended to be for Fox though.
I’m not sure we disagree. I would rather have him play point all season and finish at the bottom of the conference. He can learn it during summer league and the regular season not coming off the bench for ****ing Schroeder or Westbrook. We’re competing for the 10th seed not a championship play and start your high draft picks.
Exactly bad enough we stunted his growth with iso Demar and not having ellis in to defend with him
I listened to the Perry interview on sactown and it seems pretty clear that Deebo will be on the team to start the season. Unless we trade Lavine we are running a ___ Lavine, Deebo, Keegan, Sabonis starting 5. Let’s assume Monk is traded. That leaves a bench of Carter, Keon, Red, Lithuanian Kelce and maybe a player traded for Monk ( unless he is traded to Atlanta with no player coming back just a pick package.) Maxine and IJ spot minutes. Not going to win a title with that squad but I could live with it as long as the minute distribution is right. The only time the Bulls had success with Lavine/Deebo was when they had Lonzo Ball. He’s another guy we should be considering. I’m ok with being patient. You never know when one of your draft picks surprises and elevates your team. DONT TRADE CARTER at least until the deadline. Develop your two picks. Fix early season shooting problems for Keegan. I’ll still be tuning in next year.

When MB was forced to insert Keon in the starting lineup, after Kevin's injury, the Kings rose to Top 10 in defense. We had the right balance but the next season he went back to what didn't work. And, this is the guy that started K Z Okpala, JTA, Jae Crowder without any practice! Can't let personal feelings overshadow what's good for the team.Still boggles my mind we had Keon here the whole time and he couldn't get consistent minutes under Brown and that's a big part of why we stumbled so hard.
