Postgame Quotes-vs. Suns

Kings Coach Rick Adelman
“I am really happy with our effort tonight. We wanted to finish the season on a good note and try to get 50 wins. Everybody played well and we came out with a lot of energy and shot the ball well. After the first quarter they ran by us and started the quarter again but as the game went on we got better at it and it was obviously great to have Bobby (Jackson) and the energy he brings on the court. He got a little bit winded but for not practicing you can tell how hard he works. He’s shooting, he’s running, he’s just been waiting to get on the court and it was really good to see him out there.”

Was he (Bobby Jackson) expected to play tonight?
“He was going to play. The doctor said he was okay to go yesterday and Bobby and I talked about how I was going to play him tonight. It was a good opportunity to get him in the game, get him on the court and feel how his conditioning is in his basketball life. I had planned on playing him all along if the doctor said it was okay because knowing Bobby he is ready and he has worked his tail off. I knew he would be ready physically and it’s good to get him out there on the court where he can get some confidence. He knows he’s okay, and he’s not going to hurt himself, so I think it was important that he got this game under his belt.”

“Bobby pushed the ball really well tonight and he found people. I think one thing he did really well was not really forcing anything and he let it come to him. He was looking to give it up and take the shots where they were when they came to him. That’s the way he should approach it. He had five assists and fifteen points in 16 minutes. We have been missing that, the guy off the bench, who could give you those kind of numbers and that kind of energy and that kind of lift.

PHOENIX SUNS

Jim Jackson
“We wanted to come out and play hard and play smart. We did want to get the best record, but I think by winning the other day we didn’t focus. We’re getting ready for the playoffs. Sacramento played hard and that’s how it went.”

Any significance?
“Not more than us just trying to get 63, but I think after we won it we’re just trying to get geared up for the playoffs.”

“We’re just trying to stay injury free, be healthy, and I think we accomplished that.”

Forward Quentin Richardson
“It’s just the last game of the season. They played well and we didn’t. It is what it is.”

Center Amare Stoudemire
Were there a minimal number of minutes you were going to play?
“Not really. I wasn’t going to play my normal amount of minutes out there tonight which is cool because this was a game that we don’t really need. I think if you go out there and play hard there’s a greater risk of chance getting hurt.”

Would anything less than an NBA title be acceptable for you?
“Not for me because I’m such a competitor. I want to win a title and that’s our motivation and that’s what we are striving for.”

Is your style good enough for the playoffs?
“I think we are going to pick it up regardless because of the playoffs. I think with a record of 52 and 20 it’s almost self-explanatory. We’re just going to continue how we play and defend better and we should be able to bring home the title.”

Man, the Suns are one cocky team, I don't think the Kings were ever this cocky when they won 60+ games. I hope we kick their #@$!# in the finals. ;)

They have an unexpectedly good season and suddenly they're the best team ever??? I don't like their attitude, confidence is important but that's ridiculous.

4th quarter?? just a game??

Guys, we won 50 on the last game of the season and have been a .500 team for months. They finished with the best record in the league and just crunched us a few nights ago. Neither team had a reason to really play 100% out there last night, both teams rested their starting PGs, the Suns only played Marion a handful of minutes as well, both teams went deep and often into the bench. Based on all that were we really expecting them to be all trembly after last night?

If we ever arise again as a legit contender that's exactly the way I want our team thinking on the eve of the playoffs -- focused on the goal, confident and unfazed by the little things. Still think the Suns are built wrong to win a title, but they are certainly developing the swagger you need to get it done.

Hey, Q-Rich just identified our key to the playoffs! Maybe he was trying to encourage us :)

Maybe if we had been a little more cocky against the Lakers we would have finished them off instead of losing games 6 & 7! MICHAEL JORDAN,LARRY BIRD,MAGIC JOHNSON were all cocky!
