Rick Adelman
“This was a game that we had to get tonight to start the week off. I was really pleased defensively in the second half. In the first half we didn’t listen to what (Seattle) was going to do to us. They had 20 fast break points on us and they were running out on us. We talked about it this morning, we talked about it before the game, and it just took us a while to get into the game. In the second half we were much better defensively and Ron (Artest) was great at both ends of the court. Like I said, it was a game we had to get tonight with us going down to L.A. tomorrow night.”

“We got more aggressive and active. We were reacting to everything that they did. They were running the big guys. I told them at halftime that we needed to talk about offense – we had 58 points and they had 60. In the second half they had 36 points and that was the difference in the game.”

“(Artest) was attacking the basket and he was getting to the basket on them. Mike (Bibby) was good too. They were working well together, the two of them. It was a nice all-around game though. At the defensive end, he made two or three plays during the fourth quarter that were unbelievable plays. He stripped (Rashard) Lewis, he blocked his shot, he had such great hands defensively and he responded. That’s what we have to do. We have a tough game tomorrow. It’s not about how many games you have left; it’s about what you have to do to win the next game. If we’re going to keep winning, we’re going to be okay, and that’s what we have to do tomorrow.”

“(Kenny) has a sore left shoulder. I thought he was much better defensively and on the boards during the second half – he was much more active than he was in the first half. I thought that the big guys were very inactive in the first half because we didn’t want to leave (Rashard) Lewis and (Ray) Allen open.”

Bonzi Wells
“We’re just trying to play, hopefully we’ll win and make the playoffs. It’s that time of year to start thinking about it. Usually the last 15-20 games decides your position, and guys try to scramble and play a little bit harder to make sure to solidify their position. We’ve got to make sure we go into each game focused and try to win every one.”

On the Lakers:
“Anytime you go play the Lakers, especially the whole element of playing in Los Angeles makes it tough. We all have to step it up to another level tomorrow and hopefully we can steal a victory on their home court. I know they’re upset the way we did them when we played them here, so I know they’re looking for some revenge. Since we’re tied for one of these last couple spots, we want to get one [win] up on them.”

Brad Miller
“We’re just playing a lot harder. At halftime, we made the adjustments and stepped up defensively and held them to like 34 or 36 points in the second half. We quit screwing around out there, didn’t give them easy stuff and just were holding it down. You get caught up with a team that’s giving up like 106 points and you hear it in the scouting report. It’s a game we definitely had to have coming off the last two. It keeps us right there with Los Angeles with our game tomorrow. If we can go down there and get a [win] in there tomorrow, we’ll have a 3-1 season advantage against them, which if things play out and we’re end up tied that’ll bump us up a spot. So in terms of that, it’s really important.”

“Their style is different. Basically they got Rashard (Lewis) and Ray (Allen) still doing kind of the same things. Other than that they’re a completely different team.”

Mike Bibby
“Our confidence isn’t down. We lost two games, we wish we could have won them but it happens. We just tried to make things happen whether it’s getting shots for other people or making free throws. It was hard for both teams to score. When I came back in I was trying to get the flow going again and make things easier for everybody.”

SEATTLE SONICS

Seattle SuperSonics Head Coach Bob Hill:
"We played a very good first half, and I think that we did a good job on Mike Bibby. Our bench was able to outscore theirs. We got into the game, but we have a problem playing in the third quarter, and that showed tonight. We are just not a good third quarter team. I put it on the board very game at half time. We just fall behind and have to find a way to fight back into it. I thought Wilcox played an amazing game for us tonight. I think Swift and Wilks also stepped up for us. We just couldn’t score late in the game. We turned the ball over way too much. If I knew why we were a bad third quarter team I would make those changes. It is a mystery to me."

Damien Wilkins:
"We just didn’t hit any shots down the stretch or get the big buckets that we needed to pull away. That is pretty much as simple as it gets for us. Artest played a great game for them and hit the big shots that they needed. He defended well and was all over the court. He does what Artest does. He makes a difference. He makes them a lot more attentive on defense and brings their game to a new level. They don’t fall asleep anymore on defense. Artest makes everyone around him better, and of course Bibby is the catalyst that makes it all happen."

Ray Allen:
"I thought as the game went on we wore down a little bit. I don’t want to blame anything; they just beat us down the stretch. In the fourth quarter is where the game is won or lost. I thought we missed a lot of easy shots. Shots went in and bounced out. Turnovers are not something that I get too worked up about because I like that everyone is trying to get everyone else involved, and that we are trying to make the extra pass. It’s just hard to assess all of the situations that could have given us the win. Artest puts more pressure on the defense by getting to the lane."
