Postgame Quotes-vs. New Orleans

Kings Coach Rick Adelman
“After the first quarter I thought we picked it up defensively and Greg had a huge impact on the game. For a game like that where you pace your team it really comes down to luck. They’re struggling—you’ve got to keep your focus in the game and I thought we did that for the most part. It’s good to see the guys off the bench come in and get some things going. After the other night it was good to get this win because now we have two tough games before Christmas.”

“It’s nice to see people that you’ve worked with before and (Byron’s) just going through such a tough time. I can’t imagine how that feels. You just don’t have anybody to go out there and compete with and there are so many young guys when you look at their team. Night after night it really gets wearing after a while and I really feel for those guys. They need to get people back to compete in this league.”

“I was a little bit worried because (Darius) wasn’t feeling well either. He was sick and he wasn’t sure how long he was going to play. When Greg fouled out I couldn’t get him (Darius) out of the game or Bobby. Darius does the things that he does well, he works hard, he’s a slasher, and he helps us out defensively because he is active. Everytime we’ve been shorthanded like that he’s usually stepped in and done a nice job when he’s on the floor for a period of time. I thought him and Greg were really good on the floor tonight.”

“When you lose a game like that against the Lakers, a game that we should have won, we just have to put it behind us and come out here and take it out on the Hornets.”

“I think it was just getting in a rhythm, playing defense, and doing the sorts of things we didn’t do well in the game we lost. We just tried to come out and do the things we didn’t do well in that [Lakers] game. We executed well, played solid defense, and just played well the whole night.”

On whether the loss to the Lakers was a wake-up call:
“No. You’re not going to win every game. Sometimes you have it, sometimes you don’t; that day we didn’t have it.”

On the play of the Kings bench:
“Hopefully they can do that throughout the whole year. They just played what they were capable of playing.”

“I kind of came down with the flu. I was feeling dizzy, a little weak, and a little drowsy.”

“We know we have to step up in the middle. (Chris Webber's) our leading rebounder and scorer, so there’s obviously a big gap. Every guy has got to step up.”

“I wasn’t feeling well, but I found out Chris wasn’t playing, so it wasn’t even an option for me to not play. I didn’t even think about not playing, I was going to play. I didn’t feel too well in the first few minutes, but once I got going, it got better.”

On Greg Ostertag:
“He’s a big guy, getting the rebounds, clogging up the middle. We’ve got a shot-blocker coming, and he’s been doing a great job with that in the last few games.”

“I’m just starting to feel a lot better on the court. I’ve still got a ways to go. But this is what I do. I knew I was going to get an opportunity out there because Chris (Webber) was out. I just needed to take advantage of it. I overdid it a little on the fouls. But for the most part, I just tried to be active, and get rebounds and block shots.”

“A win is a win. It doesn’t matter who you’re getting it against, especially after getting spanked two days before. A win is a win, so at the time, we’ll take anything. We’ve got to get back on track. Tuesday we’ve got a tough team coming here. Washington is playing really well, they’ll probably make the play-offs this year for the first time in a while. It’s a team we can’t take lightly. It’s not the Washington of old, where you can almost expect a win.”

“It feels good. But that’s what I do. They’re not paying me to score, or to get a lot of assists, they’re paying me to block shots. I think I can help this team because they haven’t had a shot blocker in some time. So if these guys know they have a guy back there that can block or change shots, they will probably be a little more confident.”

Word up, big guy!!!

:D

Tag actually had a couple of very nice passes, one of which (the one under the basket to a slashing Barnes?) took me totally by surprise. Adelman was joking about it on the post game radio interview, saying Tag would now want the offense to run through him when he is out there. We may have created a monster (his quote)
