Post your thoughts: SAC/WAS 5/22

Totally agree. Looks like Coach knows how to use halftime to optimum benefit. :D
Unlike a certain recent Sacramento coach....;)

It still kills me that the offense struggles so much. Hopefully this time off they will get Boucek's offense going together.

I think our team will get some good practice in. Coach Jenny said in pre-game interview that 3 players haven't even had a full practice with the team, and were picking things up on the fly. Our offense will get better as our players pick up the sets and make everything automatic. Right now, they are having to "think the plays." Soon, their muscles will have muscle memory and automatically run plays without thinking......creating a much smoother and better offense.

Watching this game reminded me of the Run in 2005, when Geno Auriemma said that the Monarchs' best offense was a missed shot... I mean, I can definitely live with thirty percent shooting if they're going to take down nearly thirty offensive rebounds...

Our next game will be in Phoenix against the Mercury. However, it will take place next Tuesday, May 29th. So, our gals will have several days off to rest up after a hectic road schedule, and (as 6th suggested) to fine-tune the offense.

I presume they will be flying back to SAC and be in town for a few days before heading off to Phoenix? I can't imagine them going straight to Phoenix and stay there for a week.

Another Coach of the year award for this team I hope? For this team to come out and rip a playoff team to shreds after being down 14 speaks volumes in my opinion. She must've had very strong words for the players at half time. Whiz said he believed Boucek would be a star-caliber coach in this league. Maybe he wasn't exaggerating.

That's what I'm hoping for. It was also brutal to have such a long road trip to start, when you've barely got all your players back.

Rest up Yo, Ticha and Chelsea! Heal. :)

I like the way coach boo encourages the players. She cheers them on for every good play (and even plays which don't necessarily work out but where players exerted great effort). When Haynie was struggling, you should've seen her what she tried to do as she was getting her back in. And that double low five by De Mya as she was going to the bench. I think it's great. In addition, it's nice to see Yo breakout (sorta).

I agree with Slim...awesome display of rebounding! With that many 2nd chances, some are bound to go in:) Great to see YO finally get some shots to fall. A very fine job to snag 2 early road wins. Did we set a record for the most offensive rebounds?

Coach is doing a fine job & she's always encouraging the team, no matter what the score. For sure she can motivate them, & make the needed half-time adjustments. Not to mention she's a very sharp dresser!

Congrats to the Coaching staff & the team for an outstanding effort.

What I like, that has been mentioned is that this coach seems to do well in halftime adjustment. Every game it seems the defensive intensity rises in the third and fourth quarters. I am very pleased. CAN NOT WAIT UNTIL JUNE 2ND!!!:D

Haven't watched the game yet, had to settle for the radio and was in and out for much of that it seems too...however...some quick thoughts...

Will echo the sentiments that they had a tremendous turnaround in this game. I think I had mentioned somewhere or maybe it was directly to someone, this team simply was going to have to grind it out until they've had a chance to do something other than get reacquainted with each other since the last time a lot of them were together since last season. This offense is going to look awful until they get some practice time in, especially considering its new (THANK YOU!!!!!) and 3/5 of the starting lineup and a couple of key bench reserves did not roll into to town until practically the start of the season. That's what's been encouraging thus far, they are digging in and grinding.

May we visit www.keepourcaptainshealthyuntiltheycanhavesometimeoff.com
and get ready for Phoenix.

For me, the Monarchs are back to the 2005 team. I had a philosophy that season that as long as the Monarchs were down by 7 or less at halftime, the game was in the bag. Their depth and intensity just wore the other team down.

The 2007 Monarchs are really deep -- I loved the minute spread over all eleven players. This is hard on a coach, but Coach Boo has risen to the call and is very attentive to the myriad details. I'm very impressed at this early point in the season.

This team can compensate for short-comings well. When the shots don't fall, they pick up the rebounds. When the other team gets hot, they go on a streak themselves. I think they are learning a lot about themselves as a team, especially after the Detroit game.

Keep up the great work, ladies!!!

GO MONARCHS!!!

...Did we set a record for the most offensive rebounds?
I just checked the Monarchs media guide online. And we did! Last night, our gals got 25 offensive rebounds, and 50 overall.

The previous team record for having the most offensive rebounds in a game was 21 against the L.A. Sparks on June 30, 1998, when we won, 58-56.

The Monarchs team record for most overall rebounds in a game is still 65, which also against the Sparks, on July 29, 2004. In that game, we lost in double overtime, 85-80.

Anyway, great job last night, ladies! :)

I didn't catch the game, but I did see the highlights on Sportscenter. Very cool! I don't watch Sportscenter all that often, are they regularly showing WNBA highlights?
