I think the biggest need the Monarchs have for 2007 is a veteran "2" guard that can defend (particularly Deanna Nolan) and is an athletic offensive slasher....
Anybody else on this list that can fill that void?

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere a list of cored players from a leaked list(if that's the correct term to use) that briefly appeared on WNBA.com last week or so. On that list, we allegedly cored Yo, and San Antonion allegedly cored Ferdinand. The only player on the FA list who I might consider for the role described above (besides Swoopes) is Abrosimova, who allegedly was cored by Minnesota.
Now, I've advocated bringing Ticha back and she presumably would fit the defensive role described above, since that was her job all last year. Our lacking wasn't there, it was on ball defense of the opposing PG. Solve that problem and you curtail Tweety too. Now presuming again we don't dip into the FA pool, who fits that role for us? Maiga-Ba. I tossed the idea out at the start of the Finals of replacing Kara with Maiga-Ba to give us some length defensively (and c'mon a better defender) against the Detroit backcourt. We would have had two of our best backcourt defenders on the court together, which mighta hurt us offensively, but ya gotta do whatcha gotta do sometimes.
Maiga-Ba will shortly have a 3pt shot, she certainly can slash to the basket. But her value is on the defensive side of the ball and on the glass on both ends of the floor.
If we want Ferndinand, we'll likely have to trade for her, and who on our roster (key words here: on our roster=currently under contract)
do we have that San Antonio would want for her..........that we'd be willing to give up? Nobody that I can think of. San Antonio's biggest need to me was @ PG, they seemingly have addressed that both with the pick up of Darling AND with the high quality (cheap salary) rookie PG they should be able to grab in the draft. We ain't gonna sign and trade Ticha, since it doesn't appear Whiz cored her, so if San Antonio or anybody else for that matter wanted her, she'd be free to go on her own.
I stand pat as is, roll the dice that Dorrell develops into the slashing off guard with defensive skills we want. She showed signs of it last year. We also apparently picked one up with Bond, which was according to coach B, one of the reasons they picked her up in the dispersal. Use Ticha as a buffer for the next two seasons to give Dorrell and Haynie a chance to grow.
