Positional Rankings: Small forwards

SF is not Lebron James primary position, and some of the other guys are very questionable at SF as well... but anyways I think I'd take Peja night in and night out over some of the guys ranked above him but whatever it's all some idiot writers opinion he probably watch didn't even watch all these guys play last year.

Mejia's pretty good, and not only was LeBron a full time SF all last year, but he's going to be there for the forseeable future with Hughes as his running mate at OG.

ide still take peja over:maggette, odom, artest(well maybe not), and paul pierce. And maybe mcgrady and kirolenko, mcgrady is too much of a ball hog for me. I thought tmac was a sg? hmph.

Maggette is a guard anyways. This list is whack.
I've always thought he SHOULD be a guard, but he keeps on ending up at SF, and will DEFINITELY be a SF next year with Mobley in town. In fact ALL of those guys will definitely be at SF next year -- hence THEY ARE SFs, and especially for purposes of talking about who are the top small forwards going into THIS year.

Hes listed as a guard, he plays like a guard, everyone(except apperantly you and this guy) usually considers him a guard. Using the same criteria maybe Mobley could be considered the 3... not. Guess what? They'll both still be guards with one of them temporarily playing out of position. I saw the same thing last year when Duncan and J Oneal were listed as a center on some of these lists. The writer is the one changing positions to make his points about certain players. Peja is one of the top 5 or 6 true 3's in the league. He may even be that high on this fake *** guard filled list. If you think all those guys are really 3's we'll just have to agree to disagree.

I'd say in general...

Maggette, two. LeBron, three. T-Mac, two. Pierce, three (I think you can go either way here because of his play and his height). Artest, three. Rashard, three. Odom, three. AK, three.

But due to team situations, Maggette has to play the three (I'm not sure about last season with Simmons, different?), T-Mac same (same for most of last season). Rest are fine and right as they are (I'd say T-Mac is too..), but can play the two, and if needed.

Excited to watch and follow Danny Granger evolve. Who I think will be one of the very top steals of the draft. Similar for Joey Graham.

This is ridiculous. I had forgotten, all the talented guys play OTHER positions. SFs are limited to a pathetic dozen or so players in the entire league who can't dribble or pass (or they'd be guards), or rebound and defend (or they become PFs).

So from the top:

1) TMac -- last year, 53 at F, 25 at G, and all at F after JJ traded. This year will be SF with Derek Anderson/David Wesley at OG.
2) LeBron -- last year, 75 starts at F, 5 at G, this year has Larry Hughes at OG, so WILL be the SF.
3) Kirlenko -- Boozer is the PF, Kirilenko the SF.
4) Marion -- out of position last year, with Kurt Thomas at C and Amare abck at PF, moves back to natural SF.
5) Pierce -- closest thing to a legit complaint, career si about evenly split -- guard in 03 and 04, forward in 01 and 02, but last year 43 starts at F, 39 at G, and with nobody to challenge him at either spot. Same setup this year, and if Davis starts though, he is a F.
6) Artest -- last year, 7 starts at F, 0 at G. Will start alongside Stephen Jackson. Checking in at 240+lbs, little doubt which one is the forward.
7)Maggette -- will be starting alongside Cat Mobley this year. Accordingly any argument that he will be a guard is just silly. He will start at 3. Just a fact.
8) Lewis -- Ray Allen is the OG. Lewis is the SF. Not open to debate.
9) Odom -- played out of position at PF last year. They traded Butler for Brown, so now back to his natural SF with Brown/Mihm on the frontline.
10) Peja -- Hey Reef played most of his career at SF, and Bonzi can swing up -- maybe Peja is a PF is it means we can rank him higher?
11) Carmelo -- last year 75 starts at F, 0 at G. Same setup this year.
12) Prince -- pretty damn obvious between Rip and Sheed.
13) Bowen -- pretty damn obvious betwen Manu and Duncan.
14) Jefferson -- SF throughout his career. Now either he or Vince is the SF, the other the OG. Jefferson is a little bigger, logical he's the SF. Good for Peja two or he might be 11th instead of 10th.
15) Hill -- 67 starts at F last year, 0 at G. In fact SF his entire aborted HOF career.

I'd agree with most of that, but really I just realized this is a stupid thing to argue about. TDOS just stretches on and on and on... When does training camp open?

lol. If you think I would ever ignore facts to make Peja look better we really are going to have to agree to disagree.

i hate training camp in all sports, its annoying to hear news about teams in training camp. Just stupid articles about how a some player improved and will work for a starting position. same old stuff.

Yeah but I hate the offseason even more. It also means the season is just around the corner, I'll take anything at this point.

I like training camp in general, builds up to the season along with pre-season. Plus I want to read who is being invited, how guys are doing, who gets cut, who is staying, and the teams together.

How is it stupid to read a how a player is doing/improving/working his game/added to his game? I think it's intriguing.

Mag and Odom in front of Peja is bad joke. Clippers were not even close to PO with Mag and Brand, so he didn't complement Brand well enough for them to even compete for PO. He is average player. Odom is better then him, but his team last season was not better then clippers and he is playing alongside Kobe. Rashard played one outstanding season, so someone can make an argument about him beeing in front of Peja, although I don't think so.

I totally agree...

And how can someone not like training camp, which is the single most important sign that the actual season is right around the corner?

;)
